Personal Statement: A Career As A Child's Advocate

When I was a young girl, I was always changing what I wanted to be when I grew older. I entertained several ideas ranging from princess to President. It was not until I came into adulthood that I realized my passion was with helping better our society; more specifically, bettering our younger generations. I went through several rough patches to come to this conclusion, but once my decision was made, I was convinced I had chosen exactly what I was meant to. I plan to pursue a double Masters of Social Work and my Juris Doctor so that I may become a Child’s Advocate. Once I have procured this degree, I believe my societal responsibility will be to help children reach the future that they all are capable of by getting them out of situations that would hinder their success. In today’s society, so many bright and brilliant children are subject to neglect and abuse that no child should ever have to endure. For example, in the event that a child is taken out of their home due to abuse by the parents, I would be the person that would help place them in the foster system or bring them out of it into a better home. When children are in court, they often are not able to represent themselves, and that is where I would come in. Helping the younger generation to be successful is extremely crucial to the future of our world. The children are the future, and so many of them have so much potential; they could change the world. This is one of the many reasons I want to do what I am doing. Children deserve every chance they can get to live a life that nurtures them to become everything they can be. And as an advocate for these children, that is my societal responsibility and my pleasure to be a part of that process in any way that I possibly
