Personal Statement: A Career As A Business Manager

The Navy has always been interesting to me, being that a majority of my family was in the military. I have had my eye on going into the business field ever since I was little, so I figured I could do what I enjoy while serving this country. I always used to think that the Navy would only accept strong and masculine woman in order to be in the Navy, but talking to my mother, a former Navy Seal, you just have to be dedicated. My plan is to become a business manager in the Navy because I am interested in serving this country and serving the people around me. A business manager in the Navy operates a store front and supervises the company’s activities. According to the US Navy, a business manager will “assure materials and equipment needed by sailors are available and in good working order” even if “stationed on a destroyer, amphibious ship, aircraft carrier, submarine, or at a Navy base ashore” (USNavy.com 2017) Business …show more content…
As stated by the US Navy, a person “seeking a position in this area must be U.S. citizens who are personable and enjoy working with people in a customer service environment.” It is also required that I have the “ability to handle money and to perform detailed work are also requirements for this rating.” (Navy.com 2017) The process to becoming a business manager in the Navy will be challenging but worth it in the end. For the Navy, depending on the rank I achieve and the years of service the pay grade can vary. According to the Military Factory starting out as an E-1 I will earn $1599.90 monthly. If I reach an E-8 within 8 years my pay will increase to $4,136.10. (MilitaryFactory.com 2003) If I can achieve becoming an officer within the years I am in the Navy, my pay will go up drastically, depending on how high of a rank I receive.
