In the second grade,my teacher,Ms. Lopez, read the book “Because of Winn-Dixie.”
This book made me fall in love with animals. I fell in love with them because in the book, Opal helps Winn-Dixie when he is in trouble. It made me want to help animals as well. When i was in the 5th grade, i started to volunteer at the MSPCA. I started to visualize when Opal went to work at the pet store. Just like Opal said” I fell in love with him the moment i met him.” I fell in love with the puppy my mom,and dad got me and, we named her grace.

Opal and i have very different places where we got our dogs. Opal got her dog at a Winn-Dixie market. I got my Grace from a website. All though i had to get money to buy Grace.Opal got Winn-Dixie for free! Opal

We had to go through all these files and papers. Like Opal, she had to convince the manager that Winn-Dixie was her dog,not a stray dog.She also had to convince the manager not to send the dog to the pound. We had the same struggle. We had to convince the airport manager that we did buy Grace, and that we got to keep her. It was crazy and scary at the same time.

Just like Opal was nervous going home with Winn-Dixie. The reason why was because she thought that her dad was going to say” take him back.” I was nervous too, because i thought that I was going to do something bad, and then get grounded for it,and then end up making my mom make the decision of saying” give her away.” But to Opal’s surprise her dad said “ ok then he is homeless, you can keep him.” Opal was so ,so , so happy that she got to keep him! I was also happy because I followed all the rules. For that I got to be able to keep my adorable Gracie.

Opal had some trouble with Winn-Dixie, was a crazy dog. Grace was trouble as well as Winn-Dixie. Grace cried , and cried. She also got really scared at the littlest things. It was really funny and adorable. I remembered when one night, there was a storm. Winn-Dixie got so scared that he ran around the

In a short story, it may be more of a challenge to delve into great depths of characterization. However, Susan Straight is able to convey these deep levels of character in her short story entitled “Mines”. She does so by smartly employing diction and syntax. Central in this story is the narrator of Clarette, who Straight gives great insight to through her clever writing style. Aside from this, Straight also creates a clear division in character between the men and women in the story.…

After I read A Long Way from Chicago by Richard Peck, I would highly recommend this to other teens. First of all, it is a family adventure book, two kids go to grandma’s house and have crazy adventures all throughout the town. That sounds like fun to read with the family. In addition, the characters in the story are larger than life, Grandma Dowdel, threw cherry bombs at the cowgill boys after they broke into her house. Now, that would be scary.…

The novel Ordinary People written by Judith Guest, in my opinion, was an exceptional book. I felt as if I was the main character, Conrad Jennings, as the story developed. As his day progressed he showed his inner thoughts in great detail which was not like the Film. The film showed him having flashbacks and nightmares of how he was feeling which I did care for as much. I enjoyed reading how he was feeling in that exact moment instead of visually seeing flashbacks of the tragedy with his brother.…

I believe the “fairy tale” of love that is discussed in the article is harmful to woman for the two fallowing reasons. Fairy tales teaches, false ideas about love, that later on could lead to a fall of depression for a human being. However, there are also some negative aspects of fairy tales. According to the article “The Marriage Plot” by Roxane Gay says “Instead of bleeding from the foot to fit a golden slipper, they bleed their dignity, one episode at a time” (2).…

Daly & Suggs (2010) did a study where they looked at the teachers’ experiences and thoughts about the use of animals in the classroom. Seventy five elementary school teachers were interviewed, and they revealed the way the animals were used in their teaching practices, and the advantages of having them in the classroom (Daly & Suggs, 2010). It was found that having pets in the classroom helped to increase students empathy as well as their socio-emotional development (Daly & Suggs, 2010). Faver (2010), also found benefits of using animals in the classroom, however they looked at a different area. Faver (2010) wanted to find out if school-based humane education could be used as a strategy to prevent violence in children when they become older.…
