Personal Response on Lord of the Flies
In the novel Lord of the Flies written by William Golding. A very inspiring sequel, which draws the audience's aspect to have certain emotions towards the characters, and theme. As I read through the first four chapters, I realized that survival is one thing that pushes and helps us humans, to work harder and grow stronger. We as humans are all taught how to be obedient, restricted by rules, and to share and care for one another. In the novel Piggy says “‘I got Conch! Just you listen! The first thing we ought to have made shelters down there by the beach.if it wasn’t half cold down there in the night. But the first time Ralph says ‘fire’ you goes howling and screaming up this here mountain. Like a pack

Golding explains, “A pall stretched for miles away from the island. All the boys except Piggy started to giggle; presently they were shrieking with laughter,”(45). This line further demonstrates the understanding of how the boys are automatically engrossed into savagery so that it produces ignorance away from civilization, especially with the fact that the boy with a mulberry-color scar on his face perishes in this fire. Finally, Golding states the steps Piggy and Ralph take early on to prevent savagery, which unfortunately go to vain. Piggy exclaims, “‘But the first time Ralph says 'fire' you goes howling and screaming up this here mountain.…

They are worried that the hunters are too wild, so they bring the conch, but they are met with booing and rocks. “Piggy held up the conch and the booing sagged a little then came up again to strength” (Golding 179), showing that the conch was now almost powerless.…

Piggy represents the superego on the island, he only thinks about their rescue and what is necessary for that to happen. After Ralph, Jack, and Simon's adventure up the mountain, Piggy declares “We must make a fire”. (Golding 38), his decision to make a fire came from their need to be rescued and that no one could possibly find them if they had no reason to come to the island, but a fire would provide to be enough of a reason. Also, when the naval officer comes to their rescue, he says that “We saw your smoke”. (Golding 201)…

The Lord of the flies Almost every character in the lord of the flies has something good and bad about them, as far as we know Simon is the only character who is Pure Good, even people like Piggy, still have a bad side to them, in that example, Piggy is a very selfish and cocky individual who thinks that everyone else is much less smarter then Piggy thinks of himself. The first character to talk about is Jack, Jack is from the very beginning, known as the person who would argue and be the leader of any type of uprising, which will take on later on in the book. We know this mainly as he comes out as the leader of the boys’ choir group, which was on the same plane as the other kids who did not know each other in the beginning, people like Ralph,…

After landing on the island, establishing a food source, and before creating long-term shelters, the boys establish the necessity to build a signal fire. After the boys accidentally burn down a large portion of the island in virtually smokeless—and therefore fruitless—fire, Piggy harshly chastises the other boys: “The first thing we ought to have made was shelters down there by the beach. It wasn’t half cold down there in the night. But the first time Ralph says ‘fire’ you [the boys] goes howling and screaming up this here mountain. Like a pack of kids!”…

In order to remain civilized, one must be able to uphold their moral values while at the same time being able to mask their savage and primitive roots. In William Golding’s The Lord of the Flies, a tragic plane crash forced a group of boys onto a remote island in which they were left with two options: to remain civilized or allow the island to change them for the worse and force them into their savage nature. Following gathering for an assembly, two leaders emerged; Ralph, who tended to be focused on the being rescued aspect, and Jack, whose main priority was hunting and filling his empty stomach. Many other characters helped along the way, including a young troublemaker, Maurice.…
