Effective leadership from all levels of the student affairs profession is essential to ensure that institutions of higher learning are proactive and productive in meeting the needs of all students. In addition, organizational, management, and leadership theories relevant in higher education settings are crucial components that cultivate the culture of any institution of higher learning. These three components influence how higher education settings operate. However, leadership styles set the tone of how an institutions mission is carried out. In my EPC 695s course, I learned about the different leadership styles, which include Transformational, Authentic, and Servant leadership. The training and development exercise that I created was intended to serve incoming first-year community college students. Thus, this training will assist incoming first-year community college students to make a smooth transition from high school to college as well as help students adjust to college life and introduce and connect them to resources on campus. Through this experience, I was able to practice my management skills as an upcoming student affairs professional. In addition, I learned that in order to create a purposeful and outcome driven training, student learning outcomes had to be at the core of the training. Because student-learning outcomes provide parameters of what information student are going to leave with after attending this training. I have had several opportunities to practice my organizational skills as a career graduate counseling assistant (CGCA) at East Los Angeles College, I was responsible for organizing department meetings as well as organizing meetings between my supervisor and other professional personnel on
