I need to practice more writing especially because I moved from the Middle East and English is my second language but, I usually write when I am sad just to make time pass. I write a lot of emails for business because my dad asks for my help when he writes emails to his employs in his company because his English is not that good, I usually write lab reports and lab papers for my science classes. I like to start using a paper and a pen just to put some ideas down and then from then I use a document to put my ideas down. I like to write in my room because nobody bothers me over there. When I write for an academic class I am always afraid of grammar mistakes so I usually after I write a paragraph I read it many

When it comes to understanding yourself and your personality on a deeper level than normally, you must take personal stories into perspective that have shaped your life while growing up. According to McAdams, “defining oneself through a personal story is an act of psychological and social responsibility” (Engler 2009). Psychological and social responsibility relate to how you act onto actions around you and how you tie society into your viewpoint of the world. In other words, explaining yourself through a story can show several things such as how your emotions played an affect, the type of response you displayed to something that happened, and as well as the lessons you learned through a personal but also social aspect. In addition, McAdams…

“I have to go here, dad. I just have to,” I told my father during our first tour of Colorado Mesa University’s campus. “I already feel like a Maverick,” I admitted as I straightened out my new CMU ball cap from the campus bookstore. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold.…

Viewing the past four essays shows the progress and decline of my writing style, and structure. The four essays that were required by the class varied from the best to the worst, both having their similarities and differences. Choosing two out of the four essays, I came to a conclusion that the “process analysis” essay was the best, and the worst essay was the “descriptive” essay. Although it varied from their definitions and structure, the essay’s showed how much the writer, put their work into it. The certain characteristics that made it the worst to the best defined how well the essay would turn out to be.…

Writing has been my talent since grade school; I couldn’t sing, or dance but I could write, or so I thought. Then, I entered high school and realized that writing required a lot more than it did in middle school. The brisk pace and advanced comprehension skills required for my English three AP course caused my grades to suffer. I have struggled with college level essay writing tremendously, but through hard-work I have been able to write with more ease and finesse than ever before.…

Communication is an important skill that an AVID student must present. This involves both speaking and listening. For this trait I chose a pre-discussion organizer for philosophical chairs. I had three main goals for this semester: improved tone quality, blowing more air through the trumpet and playing in balance with the rest of the ensemble. I feel as if I have improved upon or met these three goals. For example, with blowing more air, I have changed my posture from last year. When playing, especially with wind ensemble, I have straightened up my back and sat up straight, as opposed to last year when I slouched a bit against the back of my chair and sagged my embouchure as a result. Now with my new posture I can get more air faster since my lungs are not collapsing, and my embouchure has also improved, opening my oral cavity and making my playing sound much better than before.…

The writing process was different and interesting for me. When you assigned this essay I automatically knew that I wanted to write about music censorship. The introductory paragraph surprisingly was very easy for me to write which is never the case because I’ve always had trouble with creating a thesis statement and attention getter. Once I started writing the body paragraphs that’s where I experienced more trouble because I’ve gotten used to just writing whatever is on my mind not outlining my thoughts. Before starting college I had taken two years of AP english and even AP history where we were timed for each essay.…

What is “It”? Creeping down the stairs at seven in the morning, quietly unlocking the door that leads onto the back porch, I get up to take in the sun rising over the ocean, watching it rise for the first and last time of the day. Draped around me like armor is my blanket, and clutched tightly in hand is my shield, which is the novel that I am currently reading. I sit on the porch for an hour, before I hear my friend stumbling down the stairs still trying to wipe away the sleep still in her eyes.…

I remember one night on stage, playing at a Relay for Life event, everyone was noticeably having a great time. The other band members seemed really excited, the singer hit every note flawlessly, my guitar was sounding incredible, and one could feel all this energy reciprocating from the loud and engaged crowd. A sense of pure joy grabbed me that night as I gathered my equipment after the show and people came by to say that the group was sensational and that they would love for us to return next year. The only other aspect of my life that has made me feel in this precise manner has been the study and making of science. As with the majority of things, especially the guitar, the initial process of developing and enhancing a particular skill…

English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. The memoir I was able to write to what I felt like I needed it to be, add pictures so it could appeal more to the eye when reading and also made it easier.…
