Throughout my years, I have developed a variety of interests beyond the classroom that I partake in very frequently. I am often recognized by my peers to be a very active and athletic individual. This has been demonstrated countless times through my participation in athletic sporting teams for the city of Mississauga. I have been a part of the Mississauga Monarchs rep basketball team, which travels to a variety of different regions in Ontario. In these tournaments, we were tested in highly competitive games against very quality opponents within the province. This experience not only prepared me to understand the sheer competition that is included with many different aspects of life, but also helped me learn a lot about time management. Furthermore, I have also been an assistant for one of my former middle school teachers in the mathematical department. This experience is what I hold utmost importance for as it has exceptionally contributed to my personal development and how I approach situations on a day to day basis. I organized files and course documents for the teacher, and significantly contributed to greater efficiency in preparing lessons as a result. Given an answer sheet, I was given the responsibility to mark every student's assessments to help ease the workload off the teacher. I thrived on ensuring I took my time to complete this task and had no errors in the marking scheme. I was also given the task to ensure students were respectful of the classroom rules and code of conduct, while also facilitating teacher efforts in making the environment enjoyable for students. Balancing all of these duties while maintaining patience levels with certain students was a skill that was built extraordinarily during this experience. As a result, I have become an individual who thrives on getting tasks done to the best of my ability and truly understanding others opinions in the

When it comes to understanding yourself and your personality on a deeper level than normally, you must take personal stories into perspective that have shaped your life while growing up. According to McAdams, “defining oneself through a personal story is an act of psychological and social responsibility” (Engler 2009). Psychological and social responsibility relate to how you act onto actions around you and how you tie society into your viewpoint of the world. In other words, explaining yourself through a story can show several things such as how your emotions played an affect, the type of response you displayed to something that happened, and as well as the lessons you learned through a personal but also social aspect. In addition, McAdams…

“I have to go here, dad. I just have to,” I told my father during our first tour of Colorado Mesa University’s campus. “I already feel like a Maverick,” I admitted as I straightened out my new CMU ball cap from the campus bookstore. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold.…

Writing has been my talent since grade school; I couldn’t sing, or dance but I could write, or so I thought. Then, I entered high school and realized that writing required a lot more than it did in middle school. The brisk pace and advanced comprehension skills required for my English three AP course caused my grades to suffer. I have struggled with college level essay writing tremendously, but through hard-work I have been able to write with more ease and finesse than ever before.…

I helped students first through sixth grade learn the necessary math skills needed for the next school year alongside the teachers. This experience taught me what to expect in a classroom with younger students, and I learned to assess what individual help each student needed. Then my senior year of high school I took an Intro to Education class that was partnered with a freshman A.V.I.D class. I was one of the tutors who helped them in an array of subjects. I also helped grade class work, and I created two lesson plans, which I taught at the end of the semesters.…

At UD, I see myself flourishing in classrooms and lecture halls, sharing ideas and conversation. School has always been a constant and a comfort, and that security will help me adjust to college. I’ve known the same 207 kids since pre-K, and I’ve been a part of the same group of friends for seven years. Reaching out to people I don’t know is daunting, but my curiosity and excitement to meet new people outweighs my apprehension. I want campus life to motivate me to say, "Hey!"…

It has taught me that I need to work on my patience, and that no one is perfect at all. It is almost impossible to be perfect, especially in this profession. Being perfect isn’t the main focus, but more of helping students learn and succeed in everything they do. If there are mistakes along the way, so be it. But you have to be open to those mistakes and admit to them as well.…

I remember one night on stage, playing at a Relay for Life event, everyone was noticeably having a great time. The other band members seemed really excited, the singer hit every note flawlessly, my guitar was sounding incredible, and one could feel all this energy reciprocating from the loud and engaged crowd. A sense of pure joy grabbed me that night as I gathered my equipment after the show and people came by to say that the group was sensational and that they would love for us to return next year. The only other aspect of my life that has made me feel in this precise manner has been the study and making of science. As with the majority of things, especially the guitar, the initial process of developing and enhancing a particular skill…
