Personal Reflective Essay: The Game Of Golf

The game of Golf is a very distinct sport; it triggers all your senses including feel and vision. You learn to judge various situations physically and mentally. In my four years of being on the Varsity Golf Team, I had numerous situations where I had to find the best answer at any circumstances. But it was not until my Regional where I learned that there are always solutions to any problems. Also through this experience I found out that I will be able to find solutions in any adversities. It was my second day at Regional and I was teamed up with the Champions – the best senior golfers in our region. After the very first hole, I was intimidated, hopeless, and disappointed in myself. The seniors were playing amazingly – balls flying into the clear skies, landing on the green perfectly, and carts filled with their parents to support them. I, on the other hand, had my ball trotting everywhere; I was so humiliated that I wanted to give up. I started tearing up from the shame I felt about myself, and the terrible scores I was making, but I could not quit. I even thought about the worst scenarios that could happen. But what was I thinking? I would just be faking it to myself, and I did not want to end my season with an “accident”. Also whatever happens happens, but I wanted to finish my last tournament with no regret. I withstood the pressure, the disapproving stares, played my own game, and gave all of my best. Having further education at University of Texas Austin will give me quality knowledge to help me become a quality caregiver.
