When it comes to understanding yourself and your personality on a deeper level than normally, you must take personal stories into perspective that have shaped your life while growing up. According to McAdams, “defining oneself through a personal story is an act of psychological and social responsibility” (Engler 2009). Psychological and social responsibility relate to how you act onto actions around you and how you tie society into your viewpoint of the world. In other words, explaining yourself through a story can show several things such as how your emotions played an affect, the type of response you displayed to something that happened, and as well as the lessons you learned through a personal but also social aspect. In addition, McAdams…

I got involved with a small group with two other guys, one guy being a friend and the other being a campus staff guy. Through that small group we decided that our biggest need at the moment was being trained to read God word and able to share our faith with other people. I attended a 10 week long summer project in Tampa, Florida where I learned to share my faith for the first time and was able to led 5 people to Christ. It was a joy and a passion that begin to grow in my life. I developed a heart to take the gospel back to my campus where I wanted other people to hear the same thing that I had heard, knowing they could be in the same position I was at in college.…

My Road to Reading and Writing As Mark Twain said, “The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read”. Many people today don’t take up reading or writing as a hobby. A lot of people would not even read a book for entertainment or to expand their knowledge and the most they write is a post on social media. In my opinion, most people know how to read but chose not to because they are uninterested or unwilling which causes them no to be as proficient in writing.…

For many years I felt a tugging in my heart that there was something for me to do. I felt as if there was more, but I did not know what it was nor did I know how to grasp it. I was raised in church, but it wasn’t until I became a member of First Church of God, Evanston, IL (now First Church of God Christian Life Center), that my walk with God developed. I attended Bible Study, a women’s ministry group, I was in the choir for a short period of time and I became close friends with the pastor and his wife. Being a part of the different ministries, sparked even more within my heart, but I still did not know what it was, I felt a void.…

This I would like to achieve by applying myself in every course I am enrolled in, implementing what I have learned successfully and, learning from mistakes and failures. While pursuing this goal, however, it is important to keep a biblical perspective and balance with regards to true priorities. For example, I try to remind myself of this truth by keeping in mind quotes from biblical leaders like Ravi Zacharias, that state, “Sometimes the very presence of God is barred by our presuppositions and our intense and constant desire for triumph.” (Brainy Quotes website, n.d.). As a student, mother and, wife, I have a responsibility to myself, my family and, to God to make the most of every opportunity that comes across my path, taking into careful consideration how to distribute the precious commodity of…

Life can change drastically in a single moment, one that is most often outside of our control; we can however, control our response. In May of 2016, my husband of nearly eight years chose to walk out on me; with a comment of “I’m done, I can’t do this anymore,” he walked out our door and with that my life will never be the same. I cannot control my husband’s choices or actions nor do I really want to, instead I have my own choices to make and those I can control. I have spent the past several months growing closer in my relationship with God, asking him to use me and seeking his will for my life. He has been so faithful and gracious to me through this time and has given me the determination and drive to not waste my life just because my circumstances…

I have a divine calling on my life. It is to convincingly communicate the truth of God to all people. I do not claim the ability to define just how God calls any man or woman, nonetheless, in the very heart of my soul, I hear God’s still, small voice wooing me to commission. I am burdened with the plight of humankind without God. This call was initiated at my conversion and further confirmed through a mission experience in Mexico, during the first eighteen months of confessing Christ as my Lord and Savior.…
