Personal Reflective Essay: My Experience At Disney World

At the age eight, I was introduced to a place filled with different kinds of people, people who were African, Asian, Malaysian, Caucasian, tall, artistic, handy-men, teachers; they represented all of the cultures, jobs and beliefs in this world. I glanced at my mother, wide-eyed, as I took in the amazing sights shown at the “It’s a Small World” attraction at Disney World. Automated dolls represented many cultures and sung sweet harmonic songs as they highlighted a central idea of unity. This family-oriented ride show-cased different cultures around the world from all seven continents, cultures, classes and religions coming together as one.

This can include life experiences, religion, personal interests, relationships, sexual orientation, and ever geographical background. All of these contribute to my requirements of an ideal college atmosphere. I feel as though diverse environments contributes to the successfulness of my educational experience by my being exposed to different ideas. During my sophomore year in high school, I was surrounded by a bland sameness, and I felt as though my presences was needed elsewhere. After expressing this feeling with my parents, I decided to apply to The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. When I received information and visited the school, I noticed several differences from my home school. I first noticed all of the different ethnicities that went there; secondly, I noticed how they all interacted with each other. I saw students outside of the dorms studying under trees and a group of students playing their violins by the library. I felt elated; I was experiencing how I always wanted my life to be with all of the cultures coming together, expressing our ideas and beliefs to reflect
