How To Write A Reflective Essay On What I Learned In Class

Improved Essays
After reflecting over everything I learned in class this semester and what was most impactful to me, there are a few things that had a great impact. First, was the lesson plan. Having been with my current organization for 18 years, you can imagine the amount of training classes I have attended, I never gave any thought to how much goes into the planning. I wrote my lesson plan on a topic that I feel I am very informed on but while I was working on the lesson plan, I had to go back several time because I realized that I left out this step or I should say that at this point. A complete and full lesson plan is pinnacle to the new hires success. Planning out all of the goals and objectives proved to be far more difficult that I could have ever …show more content…
WOW! How hard it was initially! Videos take a lot of planning and implementation. I have a new found respect for anyone who does it on a regular basis. Shooting the videos showed me how much of a perfectionist I was, and I say was, because by the time we got to my third video, I had surgery that week and just had to settle for the small hiccup that was in the video editing. The videos also taught me to be very organized and clear. Something else that resonated with me was reading in Davis, (p.157) “Research has shown that students achievements correlated most highly with two characteristics of effective teachers (Feldman, 1989). One is preparation and organization. The other is clarity and “understandableness.” In conclusion, I went back and reread my narrative part one, and do feel that this class helped me achieve my primary goal of significantly improving my leadership and training skills. I have been able to utilize concepts and theories in my current position, especially with the acquisition transitions taking place. It has especially been helpful with my new hire training. We currently do not have any training available for our current system because we are transitioning to the new organizations system. Video 3 provides the new hires on the legacy system with training material for our loan closing

Each student’s presentation I watched covered all the topics of background, occupation, education, interests, and course goals. I chose each presentation strategically to learn more about each student because they were not in my HSEM class last semester. I felt that each video was helpful in its' own way. Personally, the 'What Makes A Hero' video was the most helpful/informative video for me. Basically, it explained the common Hero's journey archetype which takes place in many stories. Essentially, the hero in a story is the archetypal predecessor of all humankind in general. The modern day hero is a culmination our ancestors' experiences over many generations.…

Learning to write When I attended elementary school, part of the curriculum was penmanship. There was a certain segment of instruction dedicated to penmanship rather than writing. We were given large sheets of oat colored paper with three parallel lines widely spaced. The alphabets were used to print and write in cursive using the midpoint, and upper lines for capital letters. The handwriting grades were based on neatness and readability.…

To me, writing is just ok, nothing special. It definitely isn’t something I get excited about. My first formal writing class was in 6th grade, where we followed The Institute for Excellence in Writing’s curriculum. My fellow classmates and I mainly wrote short, 1-3 paragraph reports on various historical topics. I did well in these classes, I just never really enjoyed the process of writing.…

I’ve always considered myself a writer. It was the one hobby I could point to and say I both loved and was semi-decent at. However, taking an AP English course such as this one changed my idea of just what a “writer” is, all the while transforming how I read, interpret, and understand the written work of others. I never expected that I would one day be unable to read something without “arguing” with it in my head, or that that hot seat would change how I felt about and approached my writing. Then again, I never thought this class would be how I learned how to cook either.…

I have become more proficient in some of my classes because I have tried my best to keep up with the work, but I have also been really bad and had my grades down because I keep having health problems. I have missed a lot of school days and that has really affected my grades for all my classes. The days that I have been in class I end up putting my head down for the reason I don't feel good and I dont have the energy to do my work or to learn something new because as much as I try my head started hurting more. I think I haven't grown in my classes like I wanted to and that's something that is really stressing me a lot because I really don't want to repeat the grade I really want to pass my freshman year and go to the next grade.…

Coming to Carleton in September I thought I had a decent grasp on general business know how and how business worked, but after taking this course I have learned how little I knew, and how much there was for me to learn. So far in the course I would say I have learned a ridiculous amount, from business language to the skills you need to have a successful interview. In this memo, I will be covering a number of lessons I have learned, and these fall into three categories. The first being what I learned from the course, mostly what I learned in lectures and doing Learnsmart questions. These lessons have been predominantly the knowledge I have acquired through the professor and the textbook.…

Management 101, consisted of many stimulating and informative topics. However, learning the contrast of the X and Y management theories was exceedingly practical and most enjoyable in comparison to all the other topics discussed. This class thoroughly taught me the different perspectives and benefits of each theory and that they are undoubtedly are essential in building a strong and effective foundation in management. It will not only be a challenge, but an enjoyable task taking on the personal challenge of merging the benefits of both theories. For example, not only rewarding good performances, but also motivating employees to work on their own and empowering them to make independent decisions that they can be proud to be a part of.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. With the first essay that we worked on I did a memoir I really enjoyed working on this paper, In class we were able to get freedom to add pictures to are pictures make it a little bit more creative I certainly was not used to this; I’ve been told my whole schooling experience that you have the intro and the conclusion and three body paragraphs.
