1. As a young boy I dreamt of someday being an engineer in outer space or a world-renowned artist, but then I discovered the human body. Consisting of over 30 trillion cells and enough blood vessels to wrap around the world twice, I have yet to find a supercomputer more complex or a work of art more intricate. What started as a fascination has become a passion. My love for the human body coupled with my personal spiritual growth solidified my decision to pursue physical therapy. Out of the reading assignments in the topics in class what we’ve talked about one that has stuck out to me was patient rights. Patients are people and not just case to solve. They have many rights and have the power to be in charge of their treatment. This means they need to be informed because they are the ones that need to make decisions, and that my job as a medical professional is to help assure that my patients do not have their rights taken away from them. I’m realizing more and more that it is my privilege to be able to serve my patients, and that they have the right to refuse my service. Three professional values I have are communication, integrity, and compassion. These are values to me because they are things I have chosen. I also prize them and encourage them in my self and in others. I act on them and show constancy with it. Communication is important to me because it helps others understand me as well as helps me understand others. I promote good communication in the relationships I have. Whether is it my family or friends I encourage them to share their thoughts with me, and I also share my thoughts. It is also important to me because it gives me, and the person I talk to a voice.
