When I was sixteen I had my first surgery, an ACL repair. Going through the process of determining what my injury was, deciding on a plan to repair the injury, and going through the recovery process exposed me to many different types of medical professionals. My doctor was incredibly caring and attentive. He carefully explained how the surgery would be performed and happily answered any questions I had. He helped to calm my nerves by assuring me that he had performed the surgery many times and that I was in good health, so the risks were minimal.
