To me, teaching is love in action. Saint Therese of Lisieux wrote: “Kindness is my only guiding star. In its light I sail a straight route. I have my motto written on my sail: To live in love” (10). I believe that teachers need to exemplify deep, selfless love to push through the difficulties that accompany such a demanding profession. Teaching can be exhausting, frustrating, and complicated. However, by focusing on love, teachers can master any challenge. Being a successful teacher is loving students unconditionally and showing love in every one of your words and actions. Teachers must provide a comfortable learning environment and teach students as individual people. Loving teachers fulfill the purpose of education: to help create a well-rounded individual who will grow up to be a caring, informed, and active citizen, who will understand and seek the benefits of life-long learning.
