Personal Reflection On The Last Session Jaren

Great Essays
Introduction
Throughout the seven sessions that Jaren and I did I was able to develop my helper skills immensely. From the initial relationship building session we were able to connect on a deep level I suppose since we are alike in multiple ways. During the session, this relationship continued to grow and I was able to use skills from body language to reflect feelings. I was also able to work on some of my limitations, for example, challenging, and questioning. Nevertheless, within the sessions, I was also able to keep to our plan at large and manage time well, though I was a smidgen disappointed with my time management in the last session later. We were able to interview, assess, make goals, and do a few different types of interventions as

This time I gave it a lot of thought because of everything we had been through. In the past, the classes where I did these kinds of sessions I had different people for each session, or I was with a group of people and we did not legitimately do a big final session. This time because we had been together for the whole semester and worked through personal challenges for both of us I felt as if this was a bigger deal. These allowed us to share our creativity with one another, something I consider to be special to both of us and it was remarkable to be able to share …show more content…
Sometimes it is crucial to have a moment of silence. As I realized this I started to implement it into my session, mainly in the last session where I straight out said that we would take a moment of silence to ponder a question. I hope to continue to work on using silence as I go. Lastly, I learned that there are many different types of interventions, as the client I realized that sometimes clients need something they would not have thought of. For example, Jaren had me write out a road map of my next year, something I had never thought about doing. This allowed me to see where I was in my plans and what was coming as well as started me thinking how I am going to get these plans done. It was extremely helpful and I believe this is something I could do with clients be them children who are trying to wrap their heads around when they are at a parent’s house (if they are in a divorced family) to trying to figure out what comes next in

As such, in order to foster a strong therapeutic alliance between me and the client, I would: Establishment of whether the client is interested in what is troubling them and the therapy session. Therefore, I had to be organised and manage my time well. To achieve this, I constructed a timeline to follow with due dates for certain tasks. I also organised weekly meetings with my music teacher which helped me stay on track and complete tasks on time, as my teacher had to review my progress and help improve the quality of that week’s tasks. K2 Time management and organisation was something that I needed considerable growth in as it is something I initially struggled with. I noticed how her motivation grew and how she was ambitious in her goal setting. It was inspiring for me to see how I was helping someone towards their vision simply by listening to them and asking questions about their goals. The only thing I disliked about this process was that it felt very rushed. I felt sometimes as if we were rushing through the session just to set three goals instead and ending up settling on certain goals or tweaking the goals from a previous week. I think our coaching experience could have been more effective if we would have spent more time delving further into the client’s vision to set even better goals that would help her reach her…

Before we agreed on the way forward, I took time to inquire from the client which plans he had in mind to deal with the situation at hand. As the client expressed these strategies, I showed positive regard without any judgment which allowed the client to see success due to acceptance and lack of condemnation on my part. After he mentioned them, we discussed them to see how effective they would be in dealing with the problem. I later began engaging the client in the discussion where I began by telling him what I thought about the situation and developed a list of issues regarding my concerns. I also gave him a chance to think about my action proposal.…

I pictured a couch and a therapist on a fancy chair like in the movies, and I would just lay there and vent about my problems. Initially, I was very excited to see someone whom I can speak with and possibly help me resolve my issues, but that excitement did not last long. Anxiety kicked in as I got a phone call from the therapist, informing me that we would start next week. I started to become very nervous about the whole client-therapist relationship, for what if I did not connect with.…
