As an incoming freshman in August of 2015 taking Rhetoric 105, I not only learned how to take apart papers, summarize, paraphrase, analyze and construct passages, but overall to be a great thinker. There are many ways that a person can tell you that works to become a better thinker, but it starts within you. While writing papers this fall semester, I learned that my writing became better when I a. understood what was being asked of me via the criteria, b. allowed myself to make mistakes in order to understand what I was and wasn 't doing correctly, c. I started to question myself, not in a way of was the work too hard, but in the sense of what the assignment and the thesis I am creating is asking. At this stage, you have to be completely real…
I am a 21 year old color blind hockey player. I was born in Pocatello, Idaho and in 2003 I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado with my parents. I went to Fossil Ridge High school and right after I graduated I started to move around the country to play hockey. The first place that I moved to was Elpaso, Texas and I hated it.…
On May 20, 2016, my adviser and I sat down to have a discussion about the university required courses and courses that was mandatory for the Liberal Arts college. English 101 was one of the classes I chose to take my first semester because I knew I had more knowledge on writing efficient papers because of my previous AP English courses in high school. In high school, I was always told that I was an adequate writer because I knew the basic of connecting ideas that provided a clear concrete understanding. However, the only time I received an unsatisfactory score was when the information I included in my paper was unorganized. Also, another reason I chose to take English my first semester instead of my second semester was because I knew I needed…
Twelve weeks later, my first college writing course completed, and to my pleasant almost surprise, I feel as though I have bettered myself in writing. If you look back at my Mid-term Reflection, walking into my first undergraduate writing class was a little unsettling. Was I going to be totally on top of everything the professor threw at us students or was I going to be completely unprepared? Rhetoric and Composition 103 was neither one nor the other, but a writing class that took what I knew and what I did not to create a well-rounded writer. By the time Mid-term’s rolled around, I could already see a change in my skills as a writer.…
I recently deposited a check for $1000 to be deposited in my checking account at your institution. After doing so I began writing checks to make some purchases. I soon discovered that my checks bounced and I've incurred $75 in bounced check fees. When I looked into the situation I immediately discovered that my initial check had not been deposited into my checking account, instead it was deposited into my money market account. Clearly, a mistake had been made at your institution.…
Writing has changed my perspective on various aspects of my life. Some of the essays that I have written in the past have opened doors to new ideas. These essays have helped me make connections I feel I never would have made without writing. I believe this is because I enter my deepest level of concentration when I write. This heightened level of concentration I reach when writing has allowed me to reflect on important areas in my life such as self-awareness and motivation.…
I have discovered the areas that I have been successful in as well as the many areas that I will need to make improvements. For example, prior to this class I had no knowledge of the X and Y theories. Now I realize that I operated with the mindset of a theory X manager and had the same thought process about all employees collectively, which in return made me less effective and resulted in not reaching maximum production. I currently will apply this knowledge to communicate more effectively with my current managers and to better recognize what theory they most resemble and why they interact with me on the level that they do. This class will also assist me greatly in my future goals to own a business in which I possibly will have to manage multiple people in different departments.…
Written language is a trait known to be only possessed by mankind. Although other species may have audible forms of communication, man is able to record and document his thoughts, feelings, or events that have unfolded in a way that can be viewed multiple times without him having to use his voice over and over. Literacy is a skill that adults in the United States are expected to have; but the level of your literacy says a lot about you and can have a tremendous impact on what career you end up in. For this reason, this college English class is a requirement for all those seeking a degree. Not only did I learn how to think of subjects and topics more objectively, but I learned a multitude of different modes and strategies I can employ in my writing.…
This memo summarizes my performance in this course by evaluating my comprehension of my progress in the overall course as well as my own performance and group 's performance on the recommendation report. I will also explain my achievement of the course goals. Achievement of Course Goals Throughout this course, I have greatly achieved the majority of the course goals. I was able to use the proper content, format, and style for developing effective documents. I followed the handouts examples that were given out and greatly utilized these resources to appropriately format my own.…
In order to better understand how different individuals can relate to one another it is wise to look into how one individual sees him or herself. About wisdom, the Bible says, “Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight” (Proverbs 4:6-7, English Standard Version). It is wise to look into one’s personality in order to gain insight into how life can be lived fully and in right standing with God. The Prentice Hall’s Self-Assessment shows how a person’s personality, values, motivations, and decision making styles can be transformed to make the person a better leader and co-worker.…
This first semester has been very transitional for me and while I learned a lot in all of my classes, I think psychology of relating was the most impactful class I had. I have gone through many changes this year, with a pretty traumatic accident, my brother moving out, the college search, and overall just senior year, I have found myself searching within myself and with those surrounding me for support. I have always been very interested in psychology but never had an opportunity to really learn about it except for reading little articles that popped up on my twitter feed or facebook timeline. In this course, I learned about some key differences between the way men and women form relationships and how that can affect the way conversations…
During this course I was able to see many different aspects of management. As a business major I was excited to finally take a course that I felt really related to the topic. My business communication and writing skills have vastly improved after taking this class. I am extremely thankful for the knowledge I gained, as I know it will help me throughout my life and career. I know so much more about business and everything that is associated with it.…
Before taking my first college course, I heard several stories regarding people 's past experiences with their professors and courses. Hearing these stories led me to become anxious, I didn’t know what to expect. However, when I began the course,I became much more confident and comfortable about the idea of becoming a partial college student, considering I still attend high school. My professor, Dr. Cynthia Morris, was truly kind, open-minded woman, she demonstrated and taught the Psych 1300 course curriculum extremely well. In addition, the course benefited me in various ways.…
Part A: Introduction A note-worthy incident occurred on my placement which took place from the 20th of April- 1st June. My supervising teacher asked for my assistance in marking her year 10 students’ creative writing pieces, as they had just concluded the unit and were sitting their SAC’s when I began my rounds. One of the student’s creative writing pieces appeared to be written from a place of emotional distress and isolation. I believe the piece of writing was deeply personal and written in an autobiographic style, and thus I alerted the supervising teacher to my findings.…
Internship is as much of a learning experience as it is the first real taste of being a teacher. The theories and mock-lesson plans learned and created at the college level are truly put to the test when facing twenty to twenty-five real students within the classroom. For me, nerves have never really been an issue, stuttering or rambling within the classroom has not been a problem either. Instead, planning and sticking to the plan has been the main area of focus. The first lesson I taught was during the last week of August, when both the classroom and the students were still very new to me.…
