Educators Course Reflection

Over the course of this semester, I took a lot away from this Introduction to Technology for Educators course that I believe really helped me grow as a future educator. I was introduced to many different types of software and apps and taught how I could introduce technology in the classroom and make it effective. Even through how we created our assignments were different applications that I believe I will use in my classroom. This course has really opened my eyes to how teachings can stray away from traditional methods and how it ends up really working in the classroom. I learned how we can take all these different types of technologies and form them to adapt to whatever we are teaching and how we want them to be used. I learned all the different technologies that can be integrated and …show more content…
I think that the first thing I would change is how many assignments we have. This might sound strange, but I wish we actually had more assignments! I couldn’t get enough! I kept going ahead on the weekly assignments because I couldn’t wait to do the next one! I wish there was an assignment where we actually had to present our activity through a video. The second thing I would change about this class is that I wish there was a lab portion. I wish that instead of it being fully online, we could meet up and do a lab portion where we could work on integrate are technology in a real life setting. I feel like that would help us how we could integrate technology in our real life instruction. My only suggestion would be to maybe have some activities based on the weekly reading. Sometimes I would get so excited by the activities that I would get bored with the reading portions. Other than that, this was an amazing class! Also, I wanted to tell you I love your instruction! You allowed us to have a little freedom with the activity, but you also gave us a very structured rubric that showed us exactly what you were looking

Even though teachers in school say that this is the year they will stop looking over our shoulder, they still do. Although I enjoyed this course, to make it even better I would improve the instructions given as they were often difficult to understand what was asked, I would increase the amount of interaction with classmates, and I would increase the…

My group’s topic for discussion was general education requirements at Penn State University. We used the P-MOPS problem-solving technique to discuss and furthermore decide on a solution to the general education issue. I believe we effectively accomplished our task by providing a legitimate solution that the university could implement to the general education problem. Initially, we did not know each other very well other than being in the same class, so there was a period of socialization.…

My job as a chemistry teaching assistant also required a combination of personal and practical skills and ability to be assertive without arrogance. Each week the students had to submit a heavy load of assignments, and keeping track of grading alone required a developed level in time efficiency, accountability, and organizing skills. I had to be knowledgeable enough about the subject to comprise worksheet, practice exams, review sessions, and grade fairly. I also had to know how to communicate that knowledge to the students: proving feedback on misunderstood requirements, clearly answering any questions they had about the material. I knew an accelerated chemistry course can be overwhelming, I always encouraged and motivated the students when…

Another change I would have made would have been to change a few discussion questions to further the conversation, but I say this after my facilitation because after the points the classmates brought up, there’s more topics I wish I dug into. Another change I would make in the future would be to have a timer up on the big screen so that everyone could see how much more time they had for small group discussion. I had a timer on my phone and would alert the class to wrap up their last thoughts, but often let the class talk for another minute or so (mainly because I was very interested in what classmates were talking about and I felt it was…

Students are to: Critically reflect upon their own values and attitudes towards families, communities and citizenship and articulate the impact of these on their practice ‘No one can consider themselves a professional unless they are prepared to engage in reflective activities’. Gardner 2006 Critical reflection is essential in developing effective practice. Our own values and attitudes do come into play as individuals and as teachers. The trick is to first acknowledge that we have personal biases, identify where these are and to work with them. As teachers, we will have to work with a vast variety of people and families, which we may not agree with their personal…

While in this course, I have acquired many skills by presenting and doing the many other activities we, as a class, did. I have acquired skills such as interviewing skills, personality skills, and presenting skills. This course has taught me to not be afraid of who I am and to stop being so shy because it decreases the quality of the presentation or interview. I also have gained skills such as, being bigger in presentations, being business presentable, leaning forward in interviews, knowing the business I am applying for, asking questions about the business, maintain eye contact throughout presentations or interviews, and even practicing. While presenting each of these presentations, it has taught me that if I do not practice my speeches before I present them then it is noticeable and takes the attention away from…

During this course I tried to really be aware of analyzing each event or dilemma I encountered through multiple lenses. Our main focus during this course was based on California Professional Students for Educational Leaders (CPSEL) Standard 5: Ethics and Integrity. It was also re emphasized that ethical leaders make thoughtful decisions based on all the facts, show professionalism at all costs and model the way in behavior, ethics, justice, and integrity. It may seem like a difficult, perhaps even impossible task however leaders are the role models that staff, parents, students and the community are watching.…

Here at UCI, I have taken many writing courses before this class such as AC Eng. 20B, AC Eng. 20C, AC Eng. 20D, AC Eng. 28, Writing 39A, and Writing 39B. Writing has always been my biggest fear and it is something that I have the most difficulty doing it because English is not my first language that I have learned in my life. In addition, I never had any problem communicating with people, but when it comes to writing, I always have to go through a lot of struggles to put them into words because most of the time I find myself repeating the same concept throughout my writing, which most likely to make me go off topic. That lack of skills would always indicate in my academic paper. My experiences with the previous writing courses was not very…

Students’ education has changed over the years and the reason for it is technology. For hundreds of years teachers have used books, paper, and pencils to teach their students, but for the last few years technology has become part of everyone’s life in one way or another. Students and teachers are getting their technology through the classroom and it has impacted student learning. Technology has positively impacted student learning because they have more motivation, self-esteem, are completing complex tasks and help others more, while it has the negative impact of poor work and shorter attention span to tasks. One way is that technology has increased students’ motivation to learn and their self-esteem in what they learned.…
