What helps define one’s profession? This writer’s ponder the previous stated question in regards to her profession as a nurse. According to Nunnery(2012), “A philosophy of nursing presents a particular professional nurse’s belief system or worldview of nursing-the nurse’s personal definition of nursing” (p.17). Indeed, beliefs have a major impact on how one defines their profession, and a person’s beliefs are influence by different factors. Physiological diseases such as diabetes or peripheral vascular disease are examples of internal factors; patients with such physiological diseases should monitor for complications such as neuropathy and poor healing.
