Nursing Philosophy In Education

Philosophy in nursing is the fundamental basis of practice; it promotes the appropriate application of nursing knowledge including the development of further nursing theory and knowledge (Marchuk, 2014). Throughout my nursing career, my personal philosophy has centered on the embracing and providing care that is embodied in the art of conveying nursing science holistically with compassion and dignity and being with the patient wholeheartedly. The purpose of this paper is to describe my nursing philosophy and role as an educator, define what type of leadership style best fits my abilities, explain what leadership theory would be appropriate for my role in education, and describe how I envision my leadership evolving in the next five years. I believed wholeheartedly that I have a passion for nursing it is an innate quality, one that I have been able to nurture since childhood. I also acknowledge the fact that to excel as a nurse educator one must be exceptional and dedicated. As a nurse educator, my teaching philosophy, therefore, will be to impact the same qualities and characteristic to my students, by showing them the path to excellence is through experiences, skills, critical thinking, developing good decision-making skill and reflections on lifelong experiences. One of the many qualities of an educator is being passionate and enthusiastic about teaching, and that correlates with the student’s desire and hunger to assimilate the knowledge being impacted by the teacher.
