When you have a personal philosophy of nursing it represents a person's values. It allows a person to demonstrate and implement those values. These values can be applied in their nursing practice. The way a person was raised can be a contributing factor in their philosophy. However, there are times when a personal philosophy may not coincide with a professional practice. The personal philosophy, maybe exceptional outside the professional practice, but can be inappropriate for the professional setting. Therefore, some adjustments may need to be made. This can be in reference to one's differences of cultures, religions, and ethnicities. Thus, a patient’s background should be considered when executing a personal philosophy.
