1. Time Management - I have been terrible at time management my whole life, ever since I can remember. One of the reasons I believe that I am bad at time management is that I tend to procrastinate too much, especially when it comes to school and school work such as studying and doing homework. I tend to just watch videos such as Netflix or Youtube, or play video games to pass the time so that I don’t have to do or think about my responsibilities of school or work and because of that, the time I have to do other stuff is limited and not as much as I would like. The main way I plan to combat this problem is keep to a strict schedule and keep a planer to know what I need to get done at a specific time on any given day. After I keep to that schedule …show more content…
This last semester I took 8 am classes Monday through Thursday. Before the start of the fall semester I thought that I could handle waking up in the morning, but I now know that I can’t get up in the morning. This has to do with the fact that I have always stayed up late, even in high school, but with the college pressure and all the homework I had to do, I was up later than I normally was. There are a few things that I can do to assure that I can get up in the morning with the motivation to go to class. First and foremost, I made sure to not schedule any classes to early in the morning so that I can wake up in the morning. Second is to set 2 alarms, one on my phone and one on my actual alarm clock, to assure that I am able to wake up. This will assure that I actually go to class instead of skipping and not knowing the material. I will know the material much better and receive a much improved …show more content…
See a counselor - This past semester I was dealing with a great amount of anxiety and a fair amount of depression. In high school I had some anxiety over tests and maybe over other things such as projects. I thought that that was normal, test anxiety, and it was for the most part, but when I came to college it seemed to get worse as the weeks went on. At some points it would get so bad that I would start to get severely sick and not make it to class, and that was biggest part of me missing classes. I stated earlier in the paper, I have met with a doctor for my adhd, but we also talked about my anxiety and depression and he gave me medication for my anxiety if it got bad enough, but we both agreed that it would be in my best interest to see someone to help me though these problems. And for that reason is I plan to see a counselor on a regular schedule.

9. Get a Tutor / Go to the Math Assistance Center and Writing Assistance Center - This semester I want to get as much help as I can to assure I get the best grades I can get. And to do that I am going to everything in my power to do so, such as get a tutor, or go to any of the assistance centers on campus, this one is pretty easy to do,

No matter how much sleep I get 8,9, and even 10 hours of sleep, waking up early has been a challenge. Although science says that students need 8-10 sleep hours of sleep to be able to function fully it doesn’t always mean that they will be able to when they do get enough. Sometimes the problem isn’t the amount of sleep but the time you are getting up. I have tried everything from coffee to the silly tips you can find on YouTube, but nothing has given me that burst of energy to be able to stay awake and focused. Now I wake up for school at about 6:45AM.…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…

Many of the skills that improved are the ones that have helped me and will continue to help me through college. I do not think I would still be at CCRI if these did not improve. My skills that mostly improved are time management, note taking, and participation. Time management was a skill that I used to be horrible with, but got better with time.…

I would say that I learned the most about what it really means to have time management after this semester. Entering my first semester of college I had blind faith in the University, and myself because I believe everything would just work out and I would pass because it was meant to be. However, fate and hope are no the things to help you life as a new college student. The drive to wake up, attend class, finish homework, and accept the new responsibility that had been placed in my novice hands diminished greatly as the non-academic temptations became to creep in my head. I must be honest with you and let you know that I did cave and willingly participate in the sweet release of social experiences.…
