Personal Note On Commencement Day At Porter's Lodge

On Commencement day when I pass through the gates of Porter’s Lodge, I will see the words “Know Thyself” and think back on the ways that College of Charleston helped me discover my true self. During high school, it’s hard to know exactly who I am. College is the time where everyone gets a clean slate and is free to be whoever they want to be. It is the time to discover myself.
Throughout high school, I have been under my parent’s wings and they have done everything for me. However, I have to learn to do everything by myself when I go to college. I will face new challenges and experiences, and through those times I will learn who I am as a person. During my years at College of Charleston, I will discover more about myself through classes, internships, and clubs. The College offers numerous opportunities to help choose a career path that is right for me. …show more content…
I will be anxious about moving on to the “real world”, but I will also be excited to start my career journey. My time at College of Charleston will definitely help me make difficult decisions for life after graduation. When I pass through the gates of Porter’s Lodge, I see myself looking back on my years of college, feeling anxious about the future, and also having a sense of pride after graduating from College of Charleston.
