I looked nervously around the classroom and discovered very similar looks of worry on the faces of my classmates. As the teacher drew closer and closer to my desk, fear started taking over, and a million thoughts ran through my mind. I just knew I had done a horrible job on it. When she placed the prompt on top of my desk, I looked down, and to my utter relief, I realized my paper barely had any red makes. I would wake up every morning around 7 a.m. and have a warm breakfast with my younger siblings. I felt like I was still going to school. While sprawled out on the living room floor, I would work on my essay. Each week my mother would assign me a different part of the essay. The amount of time I spent on an assign would vary based on the section to the essay I was on. For an example, when assigned the introduction, I only had one week whereas with the body paragraphs I had two weeks. Since she did not want me to be overwhelmed by the amount of work given so she would space out the assignments. She also wanted me to enjoy my summer break a little bit. After I completed an assignment, my mother would send me to my father so that he could read it over. To check my work and show encouragement, my father would place a big smiley face on every page that I completed correctly; however, if the assignment was not up to his high standards, the red marks would never end which only caused me to want to do better each time around. I would see him write and I would desire to achieve writing of equal beauty, so I began to work harder. After all that attention and time spent writing helped me make an excellent grade on my essay.
