It pierced my ear as it blasted up, screaming a high pitched scream. The loud noise always scares me. Even when I know it’s coming. That’s what happened last time. I got so scared that I leaped out of my chair. It’s always the big ones, always. The firework was lit right next to me. That was it for them, the last big one. All that was left were small ones. The only problem was that my dad hadn’t gotten back from the store yet. That’s the one and only thing he asked of us, to wait. But why wait?
By the time he got back from the store we had used all of the big fireworks. He told us before to not light them until he got back. When he saw the big cardboard boxes all shredded up his face turned a crimson color. He slowly trudged to where we were

Thankfully I didn’t get in trouble. After a whole hour of lighting small fireworks and eating greasy pizza we ran out of both. We asked my dad if he would go get us more fireworks since we were out. All he did was look at us with horror. Almost like the thought of getting, more would be too much. But after a little convincing he agreed to our proposal. He just had one condition; I had to go with him. After a forty five minute long drive we finally arrived at the firework stand. I was eager to get out of the car, my hands had fallen asleep and the bits of tingling throughout my hand were really irritating me. When we got out and looked around I had asked him what we were going to …show more content…
As they whipped out the monstrous hose we went speechless. We watched the firefighters hour after hour water down the cornfield. After three hours at the most the fire was gone, and the firefighters were on their way over to us. Many questions were asked and mostly went unanswered. The men were now asking me questions. Who lit the firework? Seemed like the hardest question to answer. I answered the men with a slow and scratchy “Um, my dad”, Knowing that my dad was staring at me from afar. They were now taking my dad to jail because apparently you were not supposed to lie to firefighters and police officers. We got to talk to him before they took him away. He looked at me really aggravated. I was in trouble. He said I should never have told them that he lit the firework. Immediately I knew I would get grounded, not even knowing what I did wrong. What I learned from this experience is to never light off fireworks while the adult’s are gone. Now that’s not all I learned, I also learned that I should go with my gut and speak my opinion. If I would of told my dad to not light the big firework off then he probably wouldn’t of. Then he would never gotten arrested. And most importantly, I would not of gotten grounded. Now when I am unsure of what is going on or is going to happen I will go with my instinct and speak up so nothing goes

Chicago “A city ready to burn’’ In 1871, Chicago was a city ready to ignite from the flames of a dragon's breath flying over the city. In the book, The Great Fire, by Jim Murphy, the author clearly shows us this dragon. ‘First of all, the city was made of flammable things that could burst up into flames at any time it wanted too. The Chicago Fire On that devastating day on October 8, 1871, the unspeakable happened, when a fire broke out in a barn, the owners of the barn being the O’Learys, that soon destroyed almost all of Chicago. In this essay, I will be proving the statement “Everything Went Wrong,” out of a book that I read about the Chicago fire, called The Great Fire, by Jim Murphy. Here are some details to prove that during that fire “Everything went wrong.” My first detail to show that “Everything went wrong” on that day is that when the fire was noticed, people were ignoring alarms, AND the wind was picking up. You must be wondering, “Why would anyone ignore alarms?”…

while attending the jazz field trip I was thrilled to finally use the fire extinguisher and other equipment that we have been learning about in class. It was everything I expected and more going into the exercise I was confident and excited to display the techniques I learned first-hand during the simulation, it gave me great insight of how to conduct myself with confidence and professionalism within the situation of a fire on board the aircraft. Identify and describe specifically how you operated the fire extinguisher. After noticing the fire, the first thing I did was call for backup, after pushing the Flight attendant call button to gain the attention and response of another flight attendant I used the P.A.S.S. method to extinguish the fire.…

As a few of my friends and I were walking down the road by the Lidtke Mill, we suddenly saw a shadowy image in the window. We then went in the Mill. Walking in, we heard strange sounds, screams. All we wanted to know is if it was real or if someone was playing a cruel joke on us. When we realized that there was a fire back in 1894, we did not know if anybody was killed in the fire or not.…
