April 22nd, 2014, it was supposed to be like any other day for James. Wake up, eat breakfast, go to his job, return home to his family, sleep, rinse and repeat. It was like this for the longest time, day after day the same process; however, today would be different. James woke up, munched on donuts with coffee, and arrived to work with just a few minutes to spare despite needing to attend an early meeting. He was unable to remember; it seemed to be a trend lately and the boss certainly was not appreciating the lack of profession. Taking his seat in his small enclosed cubical James noticed something was not right. He couldn’t find his daily work he left on the corner of his desk and could not log into his computer like he usually did. Curious …show more content…
I never did anything wrong… I don’t deserve this” thinking out loud might have helped but it just stimulated the misconception that he thought he had lost it all. Leaning briefly into his car his grabbed his Colt M1911, which his grandfather gave to him once James had become a man, plus a few clips of ammo and quickly ran towards the building nearby. A sign he passed said Greenland Public High school but he didn’t realize until he ran inside. Seconds after running in James set off the metal detector and the security guard in the hall pressed the panic button nearby before reaching to draw his firearm. In quick reaction time and full of panic James shot the guard right in the center of his chest. The few kids in the hall had went to run but only moved a few feet before getting shot down. One. Two. Three. A few minutes passed and James realized what he did. Blue and red lights, loud sirens, and a mid-aged man over a speakerphone quickly filled the …show more content…
Swiftly thinking of what to do he ran to the sports wing hiding away in the maze of doors, closets and empty classrooms that had been used for other purposes in recent years. There was a period of silence, maybe 15 minutes before Greg decided to take action. Greg ordered the units of two that he placed on doors previously to enter the building and sweep it for the gunner. The officers moved down the halls searching for the gunner discovering hidden students and faculty hidden in classrooms. All students, teachers, and school employees were evacuated as the rooms were cleared and held at a safe distance from the building. It was just a matter of time, all that was left was the sports wing. Knowing the gunman had not been seen since the sweep of the rest of the building, they knew he would be in this section of the school. They moved small steps at a time clearing rooms and hallways

Summary Paragraph The article titled “Father Believes Oregon Shooting Victim Saved His Daughter’s Life” by Tom Goldman describes the idea of the Oregon school shooting. Goldman uses information from the event to describe the effects of the actions of the gunman, Chris Harper-Mercer. First, Goldman explains when the shooting was finally over there were 10 people including the gunman dead. Another important idea from the article describes that a boy, also in the writing class, named Treven Anspach will forever be the Scroggins hero for saving the Scroggins daughter. Additionally, the fact that Lacey Scroggins has to share her experience during the shooting is a powerful example that explains the effects of the action of the gunman.…

Gerald Stern’s tone to shooting shifts by expressing the person who performs the action to be ignorant and then he hopes they improved their lives. In the beginning, Gerald states his testimony on the shooting incident and uses negative ways to convey the shooters: “Before we could reason with them, or submit, or try to escape, they began shooting through the open windows”(Stern 451). The fragment in the start of the sentence suggests the people shooting are impulsive because they hadn’t try to make a deal instead they were quick to attempt to kill Stern and Rosalind. This is a characteristic of ignorance because strategic thieves would’ve have tried to search for more of what they initially had planned to steal by approaching the victim in silence. With this approach the amount of witnesses would decrease dramatically since people might…
