There is nothing greater than helping your grandparents on their large ranch in the middle of Kansas. That was what I was thinking as I hopped on my grandmother Patrice’s horse named Watermelon. My mother told me, my grandparents owned a gigantic ranch, so I instantly wanted to come out and help them and learn how to care for cattle.. They had a bunch of cattle on their farm that they have to care for everyday. My mother decided to have me assist them with caring for their animals. Once I climbed back up on my horse, I rode up to my grandpa Jim, who was waiting for me on his horse. My grandfather squinted his peaceful brown eyes at me then asked in his old and deep voice, “We are traveling along this trail to check on how the cattle are doing. …show more content…
When he shouted, I suddenly snapped out of my fantasy and tried to comprehend on what’s happening. He pointed his long and bony pointer finger towards an open field of grass. I peered over in the direction he was pointing at and I couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary. “What is it?” I asked, still confused on what the life threatening deal was. “The cattle! They’re gone!” my grandpa Jim exclaimed. ”They must have ran off down the path!” I was shocked that the cows were missing! I stared at my grandfather and suggested, “Why don’t we look for them?” “Okay, attempt to find some sort of clue on where they might have gone." he told me with a nervous tone. After he exclaimed that, I observed my surroundings in order to find some sort of evidence that will reveal the location of the missing cattle. While looking at the ground I notice footprint like marks, so I follow them. The cow prints soon lead to a tiny dirt path which went in the direction of a nearby river. We begin to panic because the current was very strong the last time my grandfather checked do, it could put the cows in danger if the fall in the icy
