It was finally my birthday and I was turning fifteen. It was Saturday October 3rd, and I was ready for a great day. It started with my parents taking me to Shipley’s and getting us donuts for breakfast. After that I waited to go to school. Normally, going to school on a Saturday would be the last thing I would want for my birthday but that day was going to be great. It was the Band’s first competition of the season and we’ve been preparing for 8-9 weeks. The day finally came that we all have been waiting for. It starting being even more fun than I thought it would be. As soon as I got their I saw my friends and they all wished me a happy birthday. After that one of my friends invited the others and I to paint her mom’s car for the …show more content…
We went out to the practice field, this time without instruments, and ran through the show and made sure everything was refined. After running through everything, we went inside and prepared to leave. We put on our shirt, pants, bibber, and then had our section leader make sure we had the rest of our uniform ready to wear when we approached the competition. Now we were on the bus, and that was always my favorite part. I was sitting by one of my best friends, Shawn. I talked with other friends on the way there as well. Once we got to Lewisburg everyone put on their entire uniform and unloaded the truck. It was very windy and a little cold but once we got started it barely bothered us. After talking with friends for a while, we heard Mr. Morse, the band director, call us over. He told the band to get in a line and start walking to the practice area. Once we got there, we got in our arcs and practiced the music. After we finished Mr. Morse gave us a pep talk and we held in our excitement until we got on the field. We walked to the side of the field and everyone was giving their last good lucks when we heard that piece of the front ensemble was malfunctioning. After …show more content…
Seeing the tubist one made me excited and I told my parents that I would later decide when leaving if I wanted one. Immediately after, we walked towards our band’s section to watch. After the final band I decided I was going to ask my parents for money to buy the tubist sculpture. On the way to buy one, one of my friends, Charlie, stopped me and handed me a bag and wished me a happy birthday. It was the tubist sculpture that I saw earlier; without ever telling him about it, he got it for me. After I thanked him I walked back to seat and I overheard by parents trying to repay him for the gift. At the end of the day I learned that he refused any payment. Sitting in the cold stands, holding my new gift, we were about to watch the award ceremony. Throughout our division we did not do well but later the judges announced the overall scores. It started with tenth and continued on and on. We were going insane once they announced us as fourth. We waited until the end with pure joy fill all of our hearts. We returned to the bus where everyone was celebrating. People were jumping up and down shouting over the victory. After so

After writing my narrative, I feel that I told the story quite well. I believe I did because my personal narrative takes the reader on my journey to reading with confidence. In the text I give the readers insight into why I struggled with reading out loud and how I overcame it. I think that my piece of writing can be improved by creating more descriptive memories. For example, in the first two paragraph I describe my teacher Mrs. Robinson, but I never describe the atmosphere of the classroom.…
