If I defeated my frustrations and obstacles, I would be a better and stronger person . I kept hold of this belief to encourage myself. I continually told myself “do not give up, or you will be a loser.” These words helped me a lot. Finally, I overcame these problems, and I could understand all of the sentences my teachers said. Jackie Robinson once said “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… all I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” This was my motto as i moved to the USA from Egypt at the age of six years old. Mom, who was taking pictures of me, threw down her precious camera, bolted over, but unfortunately also slipped and now we were both headed toward our deaths. Like mother like daughter, right? Mom had positioned herself behind me, pushed my body with her newly found maternal strength, and tried to get my fat ass out of harm's way.
