The sweat warmed my face, giving my brown skin complexion a very moist texture. I was dreaming of my auntie being thrown off a bridge or maybe a cliff. Fear started to build up inside of me as if I were a gusher ready to burst. I knew I was dreaming but I couldn’t wake myself up but then the phone ranged…. Now my auntie was the youngest sister of four to my mother. She would pick my cousin and I up from school and take us to Wendy’s to get lunch. She was the most lovable, caring, and played second mother to me. Her life was revolved around God and church and she was happy all the time. Never was she in a bad mood or did not have a smile on her face. Her attitude brightened up the next person day, until one day it all changed. It was the …show more content…
I didn’t exact know where the noise came from because it was not raining but then I heard a loud noise coming from my aunt’s room. I creeped out the bed terrified of what was going on in the next room, but when I opened the door, there I saw my auntie lying on the floor and her abusive boyfriend standing over her. As soon as I opened the door, she saw the fear on my face and my little cousin (her daughter) came running and stood onside me. We both dashed off to the living room wanting to call the police until my auntie came run in the living room and stopped us. As we approached the church, my grandma and so did my eyes began to fill with water. The guest followed by the family marched into the church. I sat 2 rows away from my auntie casket and seeing her lie there was heart-rending. Her hair was all rolled and her face looked very pale but there was makeup on. The funeral service went on and I recited my poem to her and then my cousin went up and said her last words to her mother. It was a very passionately day for my family. Until this very moment I still remember entirely everything from beginning to end. My auntie always taught my cousin and I to self-determine and to stand up for ourselves. She taught us to not lend on anyone to do anything for us, be our own person. My freshman year of college is going well and as the days go by I could hear her talking in my ear when things get tough. I will never forget
