When I woke up from my sleep I realized that everything around me was white. My clothes, the bed, the walls, and the floors were all the same bland shade of white. I can’t remember a thing and I feel as though I am empty inside. All I hear is the sound of my own breath and my heart pounding in my chest. I slide my legs off the bed and my bare feet touch the cold, sanitized floors. I attempt to stand up, but my legs feel like spaghetti so I collapse back onto the bed. Instead I surveyed my surroundings from my bed to look for a way out, but there were no outlines of doors or even door handles. The wall directly opposite of my bed then lit up in bright, green letters, a sharp contrast to the surrounding white walls. I examined the screen and …show more content…
I was so absorbed in my thoughts that I did not hear the whoosh of the hidden door to the left of the bed open. A tall female, which I believed to be the voice behind the speaker walked in. She was wearing a lab coat, with a black blouse, a black skirt, white flats, she was carrying a black leather bag in her right hand, and in her left she had a clipboard. Her hair was jet black and she had green eyes that shone like a cat’s. She had olive skin and her facial features were soft and rounded. Embroidered on her lab coat in black letters was, ‘Dr. Montgomery.’ “Good morning again, Alexia. I’m Dr. Montgomery and I will be in charge of all the experiments you will participate in, here at Linda Vista.” I stared blankly back, so she continued to ramble on. “When you arrived, we had to give you a dose of a very strong sedative, because you refused to cooperate with us. You’ve been unconscious for a few days and based on the fact that you forgot this whole ordeal, I believe you have suffered some memory loss. But don’t worry, we were able to get all of our measurements done while you were unconscious,” she said. “Why did my parents admit me here?” I demanded. I had to know. “Well, your parents were not very economically stable based on their application, therefore by admitting you into this program, they would receive a hefty sum,” she answered. At first I thought she would not reveal that kind of information, but now I was filled to the brim with rage, they sold me for money! “Don’t worry, our research trial will end about a year from now, and you will be released if you make it until then,” she

It was a night like most others in the abandoned ghost town. All I saw was darkness and shadows creeping around every corner. I heard the howls of coyotes and the hooting of owls through the midnight air. The whistling wind rang the rusty, wind chimes dangling from the old run-downed mansion. The sign above read “Muddy Creek Manor”.…

Georgia Fitzwater English memory writing “George can you come downstairs we’ve got something to tell you”. That’s all that it took, those six words that came from my parent's mouths made me freeze on the spot, my blood filled with lead making it impossible to move. My heart dropped, my breathing deepened, and all hope seemed lost. This was all too similar to that day, the day where everything in my life turned into a silhouette; dark and lifeless.…

My body stirred, it was alive again! I felt the nerves from different parts of my somewhat lifeless body ignite a spark to send electrical waves with hidden messages to every limb that was present and in need of a wake up call. The minute my lids flickered to remove the sight of pitch black by processing the trashed room that looked like the aftermath of a tornado, the little clump of fear in me grew. It was all too familiar, the ruffled cream sheets, the uncomfortable pillows, the faded curtains, the fogged up windows, the smell of medicine and the unfolded green gowns that were placed messily on the metal carts that weren’t in their usual position, it all was a never-ending series of lines that never seemed to connect. I headed towards the exit of this trapped establishment, and for some odd reason, the path I was supposed to take wasn’t clear, deformed carts were scattered everywhere, broken glass that belonged to the windows laid shattered on the ground, ripped cloth that was in disproportionate sizes hung onto the metal railings and pills that were used to heal were distributed on the stained white porcelain…

In a cold and unruly hospital ward, my consciousness flooded back to me, smashing me harder than concrete. Glaring light prodded my dry eyes, causing me to jerk upwards, grasping on to the icy metal bed railing to stabilize myself. There was complete silence aside from the persistent ticking wall clock that my heart danced to, every heartbeat ringing throughout my body. The taste of my foul and acidic breathe fused with hints of metallic blood that came from my cracked desert lips, so revolting, acid refluxed up my throat. My body was in such a horrid condition, I was barely human.…
