It was the last class of the day on a Friday in May. I was in 6th grade at Pershing Middle School. When the bell rang, I darted out the classroom, met my little brother Tony in the elementary wing and ran home as fast as I could. When we arrived home, we immediately grabbed our things and placed them by the door. Soon after, there was a loud knocking at the door, and I ran over and opened it to see my older sister, Paige, standing on the front porch, backpack in one hand, cell phone in the other. The rest of the family met us there and we all went through bag check and all that cool, fun stuff you do at the airport. The plane ride was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had, and offered the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen. We rode the plane to Houston, Texas, which was a two hour ride. While some of the family members took a nap, I gazed out the window and stared at the cotton ball clouds and patches of land.
From Houston, we took a bus down to Galveston where the cruise ship was docked. The Carnival Conquest was the biggest damn ship I’ve ever seen. It was probably as long as, or longer, than four football fields put together, and the inside of it was even more magnificent.
