Nothing changes you when you’re sitting in court, waiting for the judge to take your case. The anticipation was killing me. I was feeling so many different emotions such as anger towards my dad, heartbroken for my sisters, and joyful for officially being Chris’s daughter. I couldn’t believe it was finally happening at thirteen years old. It all began with one simple phone call from my dad.
The separation of my parents was a lot rougher than their actual divorce. The fought all the time when they were separated. Assumption is what cause this whole situation to go downhill. Chris’s girl Jennifer told my dad that my mom and Chris were seeing each other. At the time one of his daughters watched us while my mom would work. My dad was very irrational

So during my break I try to find my mom in the bleachers. When I had finally found my mom, she receives a phone call. “Here you go, Raven. It’s your dad.” “Okay. Hi dad.” “Hi Raven. How are you?” I start shaking my leg because I just really want the conversation to end. “I’m good. How about you?” Even though I was not always feeling happy or good, I could never tell him the truth about how I really feel. He would always get mad at me for having a bad day. I couldn’t help it. “I’m good too. I want you girls to come down and stay with me the rest of the summer.” He didn’t even ask me. He knows that I have volleyball and softball to play this summer. I told him I could visit when I wasn’t busy but the girls could stay the whole summer. I have two younger sisters. At the time Robin was going into sixth grade so she would have been eleven years old. Raina was going into fourth grade so she was about nine years old. They were still at home sleeping. Oh, I wish I was them right now. He didn’t like my answer because he threatened to give his rights away if we didn’t go by the papers. In the papers it said that we were supposed to go down there during the whole summer, every other weekend, and every year they had to alternate holidays. The conversation ended with me saying I guess you’re going to have to sign them. He didn’t even try to
