“Hey Emily, I think you should know something,” Stella snapped.
“What is it?” I questioned bracing myself for what was about to happen, because Stella surely was not there to make small talk.

“No, he has not” I denied, but Stella had planted a seed of doubt in my mind, “I need to get to class.”
On the way to history, I wondered about what the Stella gang had told me. If Spencer had been gossiping about me, then he would want to move closer not farther away. This made no sense at all. He led me to believe that he was my friend. I shared everything with him. Maybe this was all just a joke. It might be better just to forget about it. “Don't act as if you’re without blame!” I barked. “I can't believe you would gossip about me. After all the secrets we've shared and things we've done together. I thought we were friends.” I had let the tension of my day build up and had released it on Spencer.
“I didn’t gossip about you. Those girls are just trying to stir up a ruckus. Remember last month the same thing happened with Sadie and Taylor. Stella told Sadie that Taylor was gossiping about her when Taylor wasn’t. People are like puppets to that crowd. They entertain themselves by starting drama, and then they sit back and watch.”
“I guess you're right. I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions and I should have trusted you. I apologize for letting my pride get in the way,” I confessed, mad at myself that I had almost wrecked my friendship with Spencer.
