We waited, standing on the hot summer concrete. We stood by two security guards. They seemed tired and unamused, like they had done this routine multiple times before now. We weren’t really big anyway, so I could understand why they would act that way on front of us. After a few minutes of waiting, a line of cars pulled up. We walked up to the curb and climbed into the middle car. It was black and long with dark tinted windows. It looked chunky for an ordinary car, so I assumed it was armored. There were multiple cars of the same appearance behind and in front of us. I asked to myself, “Do we really need this much of an escort? Do people really know us this well?” I did not realize we were this significant. Or maybe this was the treatment every …show more content…
The smell of sewage and trash aerated and dispersed in the car. Crows and various birds were scavenging and picking at dropped trash. Graffiti scattered upon every visible wall. I looked up at the sky, which had a green hue to it. It looked like the sky is about to throw up. I never knew I could relate to the sky. There were potholes littered in the road. We knew we were in the bad part of town. The least they could do was to give us a good place to perform our act. There was silence in the car. We can all hear the subtle sound of gravel crushing below the tires and the occasional thump from the …show more content…
They were lifeless. Their heads were set low. I looked down at my stupid yellow suit. What was I doing? I hated this job. All of these people were dying, and they didn’t even get the humane respect they deserve. Killed in front of a cheering crowd? Come on. We weren’t barbarians anymore. Sure, they killed a man, but I think he deserved it. He corrupted our system. Nobody noticed because he brainwashed the population into believing nothing was wrong. It was quite easy to believe nothing was wrong when you didn’t walk the same streets as the countless homeless did. They thought he was superior in the politics race. I couldn’t wait to get away from this place. I stopped thinking. I remembered I had to look good for the big boys upstairs. I turned on my walkie-talkie and told the director to send in the cleanup crew. They came in and chopped the rope from the knot at the top. The boys fell into the trap doors. Clump. The worst sound. The cleanup crew shut the doors, and radioed the guards to send in the next “band”. Corruption at its

Prologue The enigmatic sky was as black as tar, rain fell heavily across the pessimistic city from swirling grey clouds. Blue flashes of lightning struck the tops of towering derelict skyscrapers. Hundreds and thousands of buildings jumbled together in a massive multitude of disarray. Deep in the crevices of the city, in a small dark alley stood two figures, watching each other in contemplative silence.…

Buildings were abandoned almost daily, and as a result, empty lots sprawled over the city like weeds in gardens. Dark clouds had permanent residents in the sky, no matter the season. News of violent deaths were commonplace, and every time one was announced, you only hoped and prayed it wasn’t someone you knew. For almost half of my life, that environment was an aspect of my very being.…

I kneeled down on the roof of an abandoned apartment, watching my next prey. I aimed the SR25 American sniper at the person’s head, click goes the sound of the trigger, before I could look up I saw my victim's body lying limp on fresh concrete with at a puddle of blood surrounding them and one perfect bullet hole through their head. Bystanders immediately pulled out their phones forming a circle around the body. I picked up the sniper, slung it around my back and walked down the steps of the building. The Atlanta sun was beating down on my black clothing my long curly hair feeling like fire, I hopped in my all black Lamborghini Gallardo Nera, driving slowly by the body to see if I finished my job, I smirked knowing I will be getting paid…

3 Days Minus 2 I woke up to a loud, metal sliding noise and quickly came to my senses. At first I thought “Where the hell am I?”, but then it all came together. I looked around the room to see 12 people either disoriented or still asleep. The lady in the uniform called out “Jude, lets go”. I got to my feet and that’s when I first noticed I felt like I was about to puke.…

He revealed the Shah for the thief that he was. My grandfather would have loved to have seen someone successfully express their views and to have the people hear them. A newspaper article stated that Ayatollah Khomeini was a closet homosexual and British agent. All press was run by the government, so this deeply angered the Iranian people. Everyone in my family would participate in these riots, yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs.…

I was afraid. Standing on the moist morning field, I look up at the sky, a big white blanket covers all I could reach to see. The finals had arrived, and I, with trembling legs, took my place on the field, ready to commence. On the windy lukewarm night of October 13, 2012, my life changed in a positive way. That day was the day I got my first dog, a female Shih Tzu, and I remember that day vividly. It all started as soon as I woke up with crazy bed hair, and I had a feeling that something would happen. After I woke up, I got dressed, had a nutritious breakfast, and went off to school. That Wednesday was a very stressful day due to the many things I had to do, which were to write an essay for English, a group history project, and a new lesson in Algebra 1.…

The endless scream has woken me up again but this time the scream seems more quite, what it seems like a person has screamed for so long they had lost their voice, yet they continued screaming. As that time I lifted up my head, on my left is what seemed to be construction tools with blood on their tips. The room smelled like blood that has been left there for a while. As I turned my head to the right the next thing I knew was and guard with and white apron punched me, and screaming in my ears of what seems to be “WHY DID YOU CROSSED THE BORDER?” the guard seems hostile.…

As a young girl growing up in a country where ideological perceptions bound me to what I did and did not have, what I could and could not say and how I would and would not treat people, the inequalities and hierarchy’s within my people scared me. They scared me so much that even to this day I can clearly recall what went on, and although I do not agree with what happened to me and my family, I assume the actions of our predecessors led us to this. In the weeks and months leading up to it, the riots got larger and the talk started to get more out of hand. Stories from places not to close, but not too far from us were told.…
