My hand shut the door so the cold couldn’t come in and then ran to change out of my Starbucks uniform and into my warmest clothes. A smile drew on my face from wrapping myself in blankets and then I grabbed a bag of chips for a snack. My munching was intermittent with the sound of the ticking clock. *Sigh,* I began to think about how hard this year has been and how it felt like something was missing. When I’m with my friends, I am happy but only while I’m there. Since I didn’t want to dwell on my unhappiness, I turned on the TV, then the door knob jiggled. I immediately surmised that someone was trying to kill me. This conclusion seemed valid after the horror movie I watch last night. The envisioned final murder scene made me grab the nearest …show more content…
The heater flipped on and my ear waited for the repetitious clicks, which always occurred when it turned on. Next, I heated leftover hamburger meat and poured water into a tupperware dish. Watching them swarm to the bowls and then eat made me smile, I could tell it was sufficient as they laid down with big bellies. My hand retrieved the bowls and the puppies waddled towards me to give sloppy …show more content…
These puppies improved my life so much with their big ears and little legs. It took them a week to be conscious of their names and a little longer, with the help of their colored collars, for me. They all look the same except for their white and cream colored markings on their heads. We provide for each other. I feed, exercise and love them, and they keep me company and make me happy. I have met a lot of people through my dogs at parks, the groomers and the vet. Who knew that you could make money off of puppy pictures? What my imagination thought was a serial killer, was actually six puppies that by chance my land lord let me keep. My puppies filled a void in my life, they were the thing that was missing. My dogs are very important to me and now are a part of my family. My neighbors and some people at the park, call me the queen when they see me because the queen of England owns a group of corgis and I think it suits me. 11:00 a.m. I was woken up with the smell of my favorite breakfast. I flew down the stairs as fast as I could. On the table was fluffy yellow scrambled eggs with cheese melted over the top. I was 23 before I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. As far back as Elementary school I knew that there was something “off” in the way that I processed information. That my ability to do well academically was somehow hindered by not having certain tools that I needed, tools I wasn’t even aware existed. In high school, I began to augment my deficits with strengths. Where my grades were lacking I made up for it through creativity; I excelled at art and photography.…

The aroma of uncertainty surrounded the paramedics in the helicopter. The twenty-minute ride felt like a lifetime and in that lifetime it had me wondering about how this happened. How could I let this happen? It all started one weekend when I went camping for three days with my best friends, Michael and Carrie. Our youth group took us on a trip so we could strengthen our friendships and connect with new friends.…

I sat there in the hard seat of my desk and waited patiently. The scent of Lysol was overwhelmingly powerful in the room, but I knew by the third week it would be overpowered by the smell of musty children and chalk dust. I could not wait for my new teacher to saunter up to me, eyes full of admiration, and give me my paper. I had worked hard on it for nearly two months during the summer prior to this new school year. Looking around the room at my new classmates, it was easy to tell who had done the summer assignments, especially with their conspicuous faces.…

In third grade, a boy named Blake - a notorious troublemaker - would chase every girl during class trying to kiss her on the lips. Most of the girls gave in eventually. It was easier to give in than to keep running. When it was my day to be chased, I turned to him, grabbed his glasses off his pudgy face, and stomped on them in front of all the kids on the blacktop. He ran to the principal's office and cried.…

Everyone has a haunting moment in their life, one that’s so traumatizing and horrible that it perpetually replays in their minds. For me, that moment occurred in the early days of summer 2015. I was stuck home babysitting my two little siblings for the day while the rest of my family was in Baton Rouge at some birthday party I didn't go to because I really didn’t like the entire parents hosting it. You know the type. The ones that don’t know what a blinker is.…

We all thought that huskies would be a perfect pet until they were going through pictures of puppies being sold on the internet when all of the sudden they landed on a picture of some English bulldogs being sold.
