There is nothing greater than helping your grandparents on their large ranch in the middle of Kansas. That was what I was thinking as I hopped on my grandmother Patrice’s horse named Watermelon. My mother told me, my grandparents owned a gigantic ranch, so I instantly wanted to come out and help them and learn about cattle.. They had a bunch of cattle on their farm that they have to care for everyday, so I decided to assist them with caring for their animals. Once I climbed back up on my horse, I rode up to my grandpa Jim, who was waiting for me on his horse.
My grandfather squinted his peaceful brown eyes at me then asked in his old and deep voice, “We are going up this trail to check on how the cattle are doing. After that we will ride to

I pictured myself riding on a beautiful bronco, while holding a lasso in my right hand and a revolver in the other, just like the cowboys did in the movies. All of a sudden I saw a gigantic bull sprinting away from its pen. When I saw that I instantly rode my bronco towards the bull that was running away and my grandfather yells at me to stop it. Then I raised my lasso high above my hot and sweaty head and threw it around the beast’s neck. It then landed perfectly and it caused the 1,000 pound monster to come to a complete …show more content…
The path goes over a steep hill and when we rode to the top, we saw them. All 40 cattle were right next to the river. “There they are!” I yell out with excitement. I couldn’t believe I found them on my grandfather’s giant ranch. They were all bunched up in a group, taking turns to be able to drink the cold and fresh water. My grandfather gets to the back of their herd and makes them move forward so I had to go to the front to steer them to their territory. Since this was one of my first times working with my grandfather with his ranch, I had never led the herd of cattle so it was very exciting for me! I was doing okay, but every once in awhile I would have to stop to regroup all the cattle. After about 20 minutes of riding we finally make it to the cattle territory. My grandfather steers his horse towards mine and we ride off to his house. We left the cattle in their territory so they can live peacefully and stay out of danger. The stable wasn’t very far away so we make it there just before the sun

Last year, we planned a trip up to Canada to a big cattle farm. It was one of the best road trips I have ever been on, and I would die to go back. This is why, we was able to see what it was like to live on a big ranch, from the cows, to seeing how feeding them changes and all the time and responsibility a person has to put into having a successful ranch. Seeing how the lifestyles change when having ten cows’ transfers to one-hundred and possibly more. We was lucky enough to go in calving season, so we got to see baby calves, and we even got to pick one out and name it!…

We take all the things we have in supermarket for granted but we never really think of the behind the scenes of our food.
