On the ride there, the wind breezed through my hair, and I felt the sun already burning my fair skin like a fire on my face. I applied my sun lotion as my mother elucidated the plan for the day. My mother, brothers, sisters, and I was going to walk the trail as my dad, who has a bad knee, drove up to our lunch spot at the end of the trail. We started on our trail and followed one family who appeared to be really good at rock climbing. The father carried ropes and equipment, and the mother carried the essentials, like water and food. As we made our way up the trail we turned and went through some bushes onto a large cliff. The rough and prickly leaves skimmed my skin and the blue ocean water sprayed my face. Now off our original trial, we climbed the rocks that hovered over the water and thrill rushed through me. This type of free climbing was exhilarating. I felt proud and as if I was the star in an action movie. I did not want to stop, I could have done that rock climbing trail our whole vacation. However, we had to get back to my father, and continued on our never ending trail. Our rock path ended so we continued on the dark path that was covered by trees that shaded us. The trail was sandy and somehow sand particles made their way into my sneaker, and lightly pinched the sensitive soles of my feet as I walked. Finally! Sluggishly, the tired Giovanniello family made our way to our father who was in the car. He and his sarcastic humor were mad because we took more time than we were supposed to and left him in the car. I felt awful, we had so much fun without him and so a deep guilt fell upon me because of it. I grew hungry because of my new grief. I asked my mother if we had any food and so she pulled out our family sized cooler. Before we left it was packed to the top and when we opened it, there were three granola bars and a few
