Personal Narrative: Zachary

Decent Essays
A situation in my life where someone close to me was not treated fairly occurred right in my own family with my brother, Zachary. As my brother and I were growing up, we were raised as Christians but were never forced into a certain religion nor forced to follow one. Our parents really let us make our own decisions as we grew older about those parts of our lives. Zach just so happened to have a different belief system than my father, and it began to cause a lot of issues between the two of them. My father began to resent Zachary for his beliefs even though he kept it to himself for the most part. At the time I made the choice not to get myself involved; but looking back I should have stood up for Zachary's right to believe what he believes.

It is not a one size fits all process. To help people dealing with it every situation should be assessed differently, and every single person should be assessed differently. Just because one person is reacting one way does not mean their family will act the same way and another person in a similar situation may react very differently. You may be able to talk openly about it with some people if they are comfortable with the situation, that may give them a sense of peace. Others you may have to skirt around the issue and ignore it because it is just too hard for them to process.…

I interviewed an eighth grade student named Jorden Johnson, who currently attends Paul Robeson/Malcolm X Academy, located in Detroit. My reason behind choosing Jorden for this interview is simply because of the requirement to interview a student, which I am very glad he ended up being my interviewee. When I spoke to Jorden in regards to the interview, he did not sound very interested in the interview. However, I convinced him that this is simply just an interview to see what eight graders think when they are conducting problem. After, convincing him, he allowed me to interview him.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…
