You don’t Say?

I don’t know about you but I felt so stupid when I had my first baby. I had read tons of books, well not tons, but a lot and I thought I was well read on everything I needed to know about being pregnant and newborns but I was in for a big surprise. So many things happened that scared me so bad that I wish someone had told me ahead of time. I am sure you and your husband have been inundated with pictures of these perfect newborns as you prepared for you newborn so you were expecting this picture perfect miniature adult ever so perfect. You probably pictured a round little head with hair and rosy little cheeks and then when you baby was born your newborn looks like he is from an alien planet with that little cone-shaped head of hers. Not too worry, this too is normal. The reason it is shaped like this is because your baby was wedged into your pelvis and what happens is that when you deliver vaginally, the holes in the skull allow the head to mold its shape to fit through the birth canal. Give it a couple of days and your baby will be the adorable little angel you

I am a mother of a five-month-old baby and the first few weeks after becoming a mother were maddening. Don’t get me wrong, I love to be a mom and I will never forget that moment when I saw him for the first time. Meeting my baby boy was a moment I was looking forward for quite some time. Although you hear testimonies from other mothers expressing how difficult are the first few days if not weeks after giving birth, it is not the same when you get to experience it. The first few weeks I was tired all the time not getting enough sleep.…

Even though he was covered in vernix, a greasy white substance that protects the skin from the amniotic fluid (“First Day”), to me he was perfect. With tears streaming down my cheeks, I kissed his forehead and watched them take him away to get him cleaned up. I didn’t get to hold him until I was in the recovery room, it felt like an eternity waiting to see my son. When they finally brought him to me, I held him in my arms and couldn’t let him go. I never would have thought that this little baby could have this effect of me.…

I’d really done it this time. Mom had been furious when she had learned that I had hit my brother with a golf club, which is rather justified considering my brother had started bleeding. I hadn’t meant to make him to bleed, we were just playing a game. He hid under the ginormous pillow that belonged on the moon chair and I asked him if it hurt when I hit it with one of my plastic golf clubs, it was just a silly game we had made up on the spot, surely it wasn’t my fault that I had hit the opening just right. But then again, it was definitely my fault.…

The birth of a child can be a stressful change to a new mother as she is learning her new role of caretaker. Often new mothers do not realize the impact that having a child can have on their social life, their psychological well-being, and emotional changes they will go through as well (Deniz & Avaz, 2014; Razurel, Kaiser, Sellenet, &Epiney, 2013). Most of new mothers will feel overwhelmed, undereducated, and even feel incompetent when it comes to caring for their infants at some point in the postpartum period (Deniz& Avaz, 2014). These feelings of being an inadequate mother can often cause stress and anxiety (Deniz & Avaz, 2014). Other stresses can be dealing with medical personnel on a more regular basis, breastfeeding, baby care, and at times a constantly crying infant (Razurel, Kaiser, Sellenet, &Epiney, 2013).…

I don 't usually throw up.…
