Like the fresh, crisp air on a mountain top in the winter time. She was like a kiss that made you feel as if nothing could hurt you...¨
The golden-flecked eyes of the judge lingers on me. She doesn’t believe how enlightened I am, how peaceful my heart rests. Even with my poetic hope for escape, the jury could never believe me. Her gaze is filled with shame and disappointment. “Mr. Turner, would you please tell us what happened?” I couldn't help it, there was a

The first time I saw her, I was swept away. Her fair face was so distinct, a perfect diamond, with flawlessly silky skin that was delicate and soft. She had these glossy root-beer colored locks cascading down her back, thick and heavy. “I-is this her?” I stuttered, just taken by her beauty. Blue laughed, “You go loverboy! She’s way out of my league!” “Come on! Take the opportunity! Cosmia is one-of-a-kind.” I turned to her, and Cosmia caught my eye. Damn, her eyes were more beautiful than her hair. They just had a little sparkle of love that made me swoon. Suddenly the blood rushed to my cheeks, and I broke her gaze. “Blue, please don’t do this to me. I can’t be alone with her! Deanna, leggy, beautiful, and daring, came a long way from a rugged childhood and the time of liquor bottles aimed at her mother’s head. So said a Washington Post reporter in 2008, “Councilwoman Deanna Flin is a fresh face and a breath of fresh air in D.C. politics.” In the eyes of her colleagues (boozing old school boys with potty mouths and potbellies), she personified Hillary Clinton, the little engine that would, if she could, overturn the political status quo. “Too big for her britches,” said one, which struck Deanna as funny, but not in the ha-ha-ha way.…

Back in the days of yore, when I still walked the soft warm grass of my homeland, back when the great ice storm was still fresh in the minds of men, I lived in a trailer in the country, between Cridersville and Wapakoneta. I had a lot of free time and not many friends to talk to, save for Lucas who lived all the way in Buckland. I spent the majority of my free time at my neighbor’s house. My neighbors were the most ignorant gun toting Americans I’ve ever known.…
