Adam was just your regular 15 year old boy. But today something rustled in the back of his mind that reminded him innocence is not forever. It took but half of the day for troubling news to reach him of his sister’s death, and the implications that came with that. But so much more was on the horizon. Suddenly Adam’s world felt more suffocating than anything else, even though attached to his mouth was a perfectly functioning oxygen generator. The black mask engulfed his nose and mouth then narrowed into a smaller tube that extended to the pack that he carried upon his back, no larger than a medium knapsack, attached to his grey jumpsuit. One more week, and it was launch day. Everything was organized perfectly. It was this day that Brock found Adam sitting inside what used to be the President’s office. “Shouldn’t you be boarding the ship?” he asked. Adam shook his head. “I’m not sure I’m going,” Adam continued gazing out of the window. “This is where I’ve always been. It’s where my sister is buried, my parents too. I did what I had to and now I just want to rest” Adam elaborated. It was true. Madame President and her cronies would be serving time on the new planet. People Adam knew and some he didn’t know were crafting a new form of government and making plans for a sustainable future on the new planet. Everything had worked out. He wasn’t needed there.
