Personal Narrative: Working At The Workplace

For the past two weeks, I have been working almost every day and I did not have enough time to go somewhere and complete this assignment. So, I decided to do it while I am at the store, working. Today, I started my 4 pm shift by observing my co-worker count the money in the register that needs to be closed down. Part of our job at Carter’s is to keep a watch on the other employee when the cash drawer is open. I can hear the clinging sound of the coins as she is putting them back in the drawer. While I was watching her, I see a shadow approaching me from behind. I wondered who it might be? It was my manager. She loves to scare me, she does this every day and I have to admit, she gets me every time.
As my manager is explaining to me what I am supposed to be working on today, I think to myself, “How are we going to spend 5 hours here?” She told me that today has been a slow day and we do not have much to do.
My manager is now conversing with a couple that just walked in the store. The couple looks very exhausted. The woman is pregnant and it looks like the man came here straight from work. Back stocking is not the favorite part of my job. It is quiet in here, so quiet that I can hear myself breathing. I can hear the cold wind coming out of the vent. This is good actually because now I can do my job and my homework both at the same time. Basically, I will be getting paid for doing my homework which is amazing. I decided that I am going to fold up the clothes first and then I will put them on the shelves. As I am folding them up I can feel the fabric of these baby clothes, some of the clothes feel very soft while some feel rough on fingers.
