The tittle of my book is “Word of Mouse” My book taught me to never leave anybody behind.” Word of Mouse” also taught me to do stuff even if only certain people can do it. My book also taught me fear is something that that should help you push farther. It also taught me to be myself because I’m the best me I can be. My favorite part of the book is when they escaped the bad place. Isaiah and his whole family were running. The bad people jumped in the way and made them all split up. Isaiah found a little hole he went through it and his foot got caught. He couldn’t find his family. My other favorite part is when he is meeting Mikayla. He was hungry and heard a sweet beautiful voice, it was a song only a mouse knew. He walked up and watched

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

Isn't it weird knowing that, you can notice the demons of others, the beast that hangs around you, in fact, even at school, I see people’s own beast’s as I brush past the students and teachers as it hangs on their shoulders, or pulls them by their hair, grasping it so tight, they can’t break free. I notice the ugly beast of depression wearing my friend’s faces thin, the subtle beast of anxiety steer them away from me, the small beast of anger beating on their heads as the beast forces them to speak these lies, but, everyone's beast is unique. There’s a scarf around my tired neck. I would rush through the halls, pass another faceless student and another, bleak souls, mirrored smiles and laughs tear at them. It still smells like summer.…

Survival, by definition, means “the state or fact of continuing to live”, but personally, life is not all about surviving. What is life without experience? Day to day, people face harsh living conditions- children in Africa are dropping from starvation, Syrians seek refuge from a horrible war, and homeless people in cities need to provide for themselves and families. On a more serious note, there are even worse tales of survival and making it out alive from the past, especially in times of prejudice and warfare. One of the worst cases in history of prejudice, in our case against Jews, and warfare is World War II.…

Growing up near the creek with my family and a old couple living right next to us was a memorable stage in my life, i’ll never forget it. They were never creepy or mysterious, they were just very odd. We all knew they were obviously hiding something in there barn. Me and my siblings always wanted to go over there, because Mr. Martin was always in there, walking from the barn to the house , so we wanted to see the animals. The only problem was they keep in under lock and key and their only window was blacked-out.…

Mars Borges Literacy narrative My first comic I fell in love with was Baby Mouse— a sassy elementary schooler going through the ups and downs of early public education. She was funny, the stories were fun, but more importantly, I loved the look of the books. Every comic had a limited color palette of black, white, and pink, which I found to be the coolest thing. The speech bubbles were distinguished, the text had a unique font, the art was cute— sometimes I didn’t even need to read it, just looking through the book was so satisfying. Baby Mouse was the only comic I owned as a child, having a good 5 to 10 of those books.…
