Personal Narrative: Wind Ensemble

All my life I loved music. I would act like I was playing this specific instrument and my parents would look at me and think that it was cute. My parents were professional athletes; my dad played soccer for the Guatemalan team and my mom played Volleyball, and was a swimmer for the Guatemalan team too. So they thought I would play sports, but I chose to music instead. It all started in the 6th grade, when my class was given the opportunity to play an instrument. I wasn’t sure what to play until I played all the mouthpieces. I played the reed mouthpieces but I couldn’t get any sound out of it. I played the trumpet and french horn mouthpiece, but still no sound. I played the tuba mouthpiece and there was a little sound but not as much as it had …show more content…
The end of the year came and Mr. V asked me to talk to him after school. I met him in his office and this were the words he told me, “Jacob, I have seen you grow and play better than you played your Freshman year. I believe you deserve to be Wind Ensemble.” I was in shock, I was happy, excited and I was crying a little. I made it to Wind Ensemble. I came home and I told my parents. They were so happy that they gave me a surprize. They bought my first trombone and I couldn’t wait to play it. When I brought it to class all the trombones were jealous of my new professional trombone. Junior year, the year that I knew what the feeling inside of myself that I couldn’t explain meant. Well, first I was playing the tunes and I learned the tunes very fast. The section leader which is one of my best friends was impressed. Then our competition came and I was a little nervous but excited. We played our tunes and qualified for league. I was very happy, happier than freshman and sophomore year.
