Personal Narrative: Why Scheller Attracts Me

Decent Essays
The reason Scheller attracts me so much is that it lays emphasis on training up students to think critically and study independently. I believe that not only my abilities can be improved in every aspect, but also learning how to play a role to assist a team for being successful. Scheller has been focusing on every ambitious and talented youth. Therefore, I am ebullient, as I know Scheller will help me fulfill my value.

When I was in high school, I used to do community services which was helping lonely senior citizens clean their houses and chatting with them. As I mentioned in the previous assignment, I want to increase my baseline 500 steps each week so that by the end of the semester I am recording 10,000 steps which is in the active range. I will continue walking around the property at work and stepping in place whenever I possibly can. I will stick to walking to the mailbox which is two blocks from home as opposed to driving up to it on my way home. If I have days where I am tired I will just give myself another pep talk. I have a pretty good support system thus far so I will lean on them if pushing myself on my own does not cut it.…

It had been months since there had been any significant rain in Oklahoma. There was dust everywhere. On the sheets, in our food, and covering every establishment in sight. Although this had been the daily condition for a long time, nothing could have prepared me for what happened the day of Sunday, April 14, 1935. Conditions had been getting really bad in Scherville, the town I lived in.…

My talent is creating, and my form of creating is writing. Writing is a thing I've been doing since I was in the seventh grade. I started writing then because of a troublesome past, both my mother and my father had left my two other siblings and I all alone, leaving us with our uncle. It was very hard for me to adjust, I was fatigued and emotionally hurt, I turned to writing. My love for writing grew into a bigger part of my life when I kept dream journals.…

What makes me “Me”, I have asked myself this question a thousand times over the last week before it finally hit me. And what makes me who I am my upbringing and my family also where I was raised, the ranch. There are so many ways that my family and the ranch has made me the person I am. From having family supper all gathered at one table, something that is being seen less and less in these days. To working cows, my family and the ranch has had the most impact on making me the kind of man that I am proud to be.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

About 10 years ago, my mom bought me a book called The Secret. Inside of it, she wrote 'I hope all of your dreams come true'. When the first person who had come up with the bright idea to say that it’s always the quiet ones you have to be leery of than looked around for someone to verify the truth and pointed in my direction, someone should have warned me so I could kick their ass. The only words that came to mind when I had realized that I was being used as the example is Why Me? I had a perfect reason why I would think this way is quite simple. After seeing a picture of her, I knew I was going for a trifecta with this one. I’m getting ahead of myself.…

The personal quality I most value about myself is my passion. Ever since I was a child I have done everything I do with shear passion. I devote myself to any project I start or activity I join, which I find of great value. For example, as a kid I enjoyed to watch cheerleaders at the high school and dreamed to be one. As of now I have been a cheerleader for five years and plan to continue next year.…
