When I was in elementary school. I use to curse like it was part of my language, but I only use through violent words when I was at school, but only in front of my friends. I felt like if my friends could do it, I could do it too. Unfortunately, I don't use violent words anymore because I feel like there was no point in using violent words. I stopped using violent words, once I got to middle school. Now I just hate hearing violent words. This has become one of my biggest pet peeves that drives me crazy. I notice in society, people use violent words like it's their best friend. Some people are not as bad as other people. What I don't understand is why people got to use violent words to get their point across. I can argue with my family without cursing and calling them names with no problem. I still get my point across. I wish people could understand that. Another thing I notice that ticks me off is kids that curse like that's the only words their parents teach them. One time I didn't go to school and I was at my uncle’s house waiting outside. School was letting out and there were at least 5 kids at the age …show more content…

Every time I get on YouTube I notice that the music has so much cussing in it. Just hearing it drives me crazy. Sometime it makes me don’t want to listen to it unless I’m listening to it on the radio. One time I was listening to this song called “You Better Have My Money” by rihanna on the radio. I really liked that song. I liked that long, so much that I wanted to listen to it on my phone and when I did, I have never known that it has so much cussing in it. Every time I heard the word that started with the letter B had my ears

On a typical Wednesday night in Bloomington, a couple of my old friends from high school, Kasandra Rieckers, Brycelyn Ruddick, and Kourtney Branaman, and I went to the IU volleyball game against Purdue. After the game, we went back to Kasandra and Brycelyn’s dorm room to talk about our Halloween costumes. The conversations of people that have known each other for a long time and see each other often will vary a lot from the conversations of people that do not see each other as often. These field notes will highlight the particular tendencies and patterns in conversation that are typical between my friends, from high school that came to IU, and I.…

A big issue for me was the fact that, even though Julie was abused by her father, there had to be a way to play the side of Julie that it’s hurt and not angry. My first instinct was to play fear. I thought that Julie kept this fear for her father over the years. When I found out that Julie more than scare was hurt finally could have an overall vision of what my main purpose was. She is there at the hospital because she needs to face her father before he passes away, she knows that this is her last chance to close that door and start a new page, even though she will not admit it Child abuse is a big deal no matter what it is wrong and there are no excuses for this, nevertheless a big deal for me was to find the way of showing that hurt adult that Julie is.…

Teens are listening to music that sends the messages that it is okay for men to beat their wives and girlfriends because they are above the law. This has had an extremely negative effect in the black community. As stated by McWhorter, “Rap music is harmful to the black community because it links to racism, violence, and misogyny ” (McWhorter). In “Rap Music and Rap Audiences,” it states that “many scholars note that some rap lyrics attempt to objectify, devalue, or subjugate African American women through insults and name calling” (Dixon).…

I exist within a precarious, teetering state when it comes to rhetoric and debate. I am a deeply empathetic and opinionated person when it comes to human rights and issues of social justice. I go into silent, passive-aggressive mode or walk away.…
