Personal Narrative: Why Kids Believe In Santa

Decent Essays
In class, we had discussed the “Why Kids believe in Santa?” I was definitely interested in this topic, because I have a little brother and he is six years old. When he was younger it was easier to convince that santa was real. Now that he is six, he would ask more questions, and my mom and I had to keep this lie going. I ended up having to wrap presents at home, while my mom and little brother were not at home. I was in charge of keeping the presents in my closet till it was time to open presents. When we were talking about it in class, it made me realize how tough it actually is to continue with this lie. My family and I love watching christmas movies over the holiday, so I would always tell my little brother Santa must be real, we see him

Every night before bed, I waited impatiently for my grandma to read me one of her beautiful novels. I would walk into our room, where the shadows of the trees danced around the peach colored walls. The window that overlooked the moon glistened and reflected onto the candles that my grandma would turn off as soon as I fell asleep. We laid on the bed snuggled in my overly large blanket, my leg thrown over her in a way to keep her locked there. Her voice softened as she read me my favorite story about two sisters.…

After that he ran away to the playground with the swings, and slide. I walked behind him trying to understand what was going on, as he ran as soon as he told me that statement. While discussing the topic of deception with Shannon it was interesting to compare boy stories. Our topic went off on several bunny trails as we both talked about deception. How the lies our parents told us as children and also how we are passing those same lies on to our own children. We spent a while talking about how once our children get older it will be harder to lie to them, but at the same time it will be harder to tell them the truth as well. Growing up when we were younger it was much easier to stay innocent, naive and protected longer.…
