Personal Narrative: Why I Transfer To Keiser University

Decent Essays
I became interested in taking classes online because when my father got ill I had to help my mother take care of him, however I didn’t want to school to school therefore I transfer to Keiser University in order to finish my associates online. I was very successful in completing my associates online because I had a flexible schedule. I planned myself ahead to know each day what I had to accomplish to not fall behind. Throughout time I spoke to the Dean of students at Keiser to approve me taking more than one class online. She checked my record and my GPA and approved my request. Ever since I’ve been an online student and I learned that I am responsible and most importantly very discipline.

For all of my life, building close relationships has been the key to my success. I form relationships successfully in a small, comfortable setting. In school, classrooms are an accessible way for myself to accomplish this with my teacher. For every teacher I was close to, the class I had with them was my top class. One of the main reasons I chose Clarkson College was because I admired it was a private college with a limited student to teacher ratio.…

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. I still tried to attend class but was unable to find the balance between work, school and family and this reflected my grades.…

We moved to Mexico, we lived there for about three years I started school there, so I never really had the chance on learning English. After I started going to school in Mexico, my parents decided to come back to South Carolina. That’s when everything was confusing, I didn’t speak any English which was very terrifying to me.…

Being that it was my first time choosing to enroll in to two online courses, I was sure I could handle the heavy load. Initially being warned by counselors not to make the mistake of enrolling both and English and math class, I felt I had the need to prove something to them. Dealing with all the personal problems I was faced with, my complete focus was not in school, it was in handling my burdens the best way I could. I realize now I obviously bit off way more than I could chew, and as a result my grades ended up taking a toll. Initiating the first step into what would be my life long career…

As I am writing this letter, I recognize my chance of successfully appealing is statistically against my favor. Like many students who received the same letter, I did feel disappointed. With a beautiful campus situated a few miles from the beach, with world-class professors and a learning environment capable of inspiring students to be greater, I can understand why there is high demand to attend such a remarkable institution. From visiting the school, I see how this campus can be any student's dream school and this is why I cannot squander the opportunity to write this candid letter. I have to give this one more shot.…

Going to school has been and continues to be a rewarding part of my life as I’ve been able to study and learn in different settings, take part in extracurricular activities and discover what my likes and dislikes are pertaining to school. To this day, I’ve taken two different approaches to obtaining my High School Diploma. Most of my school has been completed in a classroom where there was a teacher teaching as well as students attending at the same time and place. With E-learning, there is a teacher, but all of the material is online where I can learn in the comfort of my home. In a classroom setting, there are set schedules and strict deadlines, alternately with online learning, I’ve been able to learn and complete tasks at my pace.…
