Personal Narrative: Why I Take My Trip To Arizona

Improved Essays

My family had then decided to take our family vacation, somewhere that we can be outside every day, so we went to Arizona. We had our foreign exchange student, Clem, from France come with us, too. She was the sweetest person that I had ever met, that wasn’t in the Kalb family. But the longer she was with us, it made me feel like she was becoming part of my family. I also realized that I could rely on her to be there for me.
We arrived in Arizona in the morning, so we decided to start some of our activities that we had planned to do. We went on a hike in the canyons, which was like a desert. All around us where prickly cacti,

We continued to hike our way through the canyon walls to our hotel. On our way back my sisters kept making fun of me and fake pretending to trip.
“ Girls stop that. You are clearly hurting her feelings and I don’t like seeing Chloe being sad.” Clem yelled at them.
“ We’re sorry, we didn’t mean to be mean,” said both of them.
My eyes were starting to tear up and I almost started to cry when Clem came over and squeezed me.
“ Thank you Clem! I know you will always be there for me.” I explained to her.
“ No problem! You can count on me no matter where I am, whether I’m here or in France.”
That evening we eventually got back to the hotel and explored the rest of Sedona, Arizona. It was the most memorable vacation because of the people I spent it with.
This event made me realize that someone can support you even if they aren’t near you or with you at all. I learned that no matter what happens in life, there will always be someone there for me. She exposed me to try different things in life. Clem is one of the only reasons I am who I am today. Clem was one of the best things that happened to me, not only because of the things she did, but how she made me remember her as a

“Why I Chose Southwest” As a homeschooled high school senior, I am unable to take Advanced Placement courses, which are college-level classes taken at a high school. Students earn college credits by taking an exam at the end of the year. To remedy this, I decided to register at Southwest Tennessee Community College for dual enrollment classes. I chose Southwest for a multitude of reasons: to complete my high school education, to provide challenging courses in preparation for college, and to grant me college credit. I opted to take Pre Calculus, English Composition, and Anatomy & Physiology this semester.…

As the powerful Colorado River churned beneath me, as it has for centuries, and the relentless sun peaked over the top of the North Rim, I could not help but feel astounded. I was in a timeless place: a place disconnected from the society I had left behind miles ago. Down here, in the lowest section of the Grand Canyon, it was just me, my friends, and the heat. Always the heat. We had started our journey, a run from the Grand Canyon’s North Rim to the South Rim, at 4 AM in a futile attempt to avoid the skyrocketing temperature and finish before the sun became the determining factor in the success of our venture.…

First I would like to start with the drive from Arizona to Wyoming. This drive is like no other, the views from cactus to pine trees are breath taking. The town that I stay in is Greybull, when you enter this town it looks like a scene from an old western movie. The streets are empty with wooden sidewalks and there are only two stop signs. The weather plays a very large part in this memory as the air is crisp and clear with a smell of freshness.…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

Of all of the things that I remember from my childhood, my memories of visiting national and state parks are of my fondest. I remember everything from the games that my family and I played in the car, to stopping at a diner on Route 66. I could not pick one of the places we went to as my favorite because all of them seemed to have their own hidden beauties. One of the most memorable trips was when we visited The Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Arches, Zion, and Petrified Forest. Before I get started with the memories from the road trip I should first tell you about one of the main pieces in each of my memories: my brother Kyle.…
