I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

THE EIGHT FOOT CIRCLE “Stand up for what you believe in even if that means standing alone”. When I was younger and got my first opportunity to stand up for myself without anyone pushing me to succeed things didn't go as planned. Although I didn't succeeded I took a lesson from it in the end. “Play ball” the umpire called out as we jogged on to the field. Like every game before I headed for third base.…

A time in my life when I attempted to fulfill my dreams was when I wanted to be able to dunk. It all started when I was 12 and in the 6th Grade. I was like 4’11 at the time and wanted to dunk in basketball. I set this goal because dunking had gotten my attention when I was watching basketball and watched the NBA Players attempt insane dunks. My Dunking goal was significant to me since I was shorter than the rest of the students and short people have trouble with dunking.…

First Place in Basketball I woke up at 5:00am in the morning to take a warm shower. Usually I take fifty thousand years in the shower, but this time I think I stayed for about 40 minutes. After changing and eating breakfast, the sun was still sleeping, but I didn’t care and I left the house. The stars were still shining in the dark blue sky. As a third generation Lakers fan, loving basketball is in my blood. When I was little, Dad used to explain basketball to me when we watched NBA games together. My passion for basketball intertwined with my enthusiasm for academics when I took a debate class in seventh grade. My first topic, I decided, was to debate why Byron Scott was the best replacement for legendary Lakers’ head-coach Phil Jackson after Jackson retired.…
